Water Ways at Kitchen Theatre, First Friday:
I am thrilled to bring Carla Stetson’s lyric art works to the lobby of the Kitchen Theatre. This collection might be considered sculpture or maps. Carla fabricates these pieces by sewing, painting or delicate collage, a weaving of rhythms and forms, “ expressing the dynamic energy of water: the invisible systems of fluid mechanics across space and time” (Carla) Our lobby is transformed with this artwork . Come join us for a First Friday, may 3rd reception for Water Ways from 5:00 - 8:00pm.

This exhibition features artwork relevant to truths and uncertainties faced in this era of global climate change. As artists we pay attention, synthesize and reimagine. In this way we can see what is possible and save the world.

Tiny Town at Cayuga Nature Center: It has been a fabulous three days with the kids, down by the stream, building with mud and sticks and stones. The village is all set to go, waiting for its tiny inhabitants to show up.

It is very useful to take a week to consider a single idea. The current kids workshop at the studio is Habitats and Architecture. Building like animals is up next in a progression of ideas about structure, biomimicry and the action of animals in building their homes.

Day one, NESTS coming together with strands and grasses bit by bit in layers. textures change as the structure is assembled. Starting with the outside shell moving towards the downy center where the babies live. We are looking at birds in their own apartment buildings, in woven hanging cities and in shapes of grass and mud. From the studio we see some new configuration of nests.
