Xan Padron’s work is included in Power of Words, an 88-foot installation presented at the Museum of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. A selection of three of Xan’s Time Lapses is included in the installation.

Each is available for purchase at the gallery as archival pigment prints or dye sublimation on aluminum.

Born in 1932, Paul Caponigro is renowned as one of America’s most significant master photographers. He sustained an impressive career spanning nearly seventy years. His contemporary work was awarded an Honorary Fellowship and Centenary Medal by the Royal Photographic Society.

Welcome to the family, Harvey Greenberg! We’re so pleased to introduce his work to Susan Spiritus Gallery. Harv’s Orpheum Theater collection captures dancers caught mid-motion in striking black and white. The shadow and light do as much storytelling as the dancers themselves. These intimate images expertly capture stillness inside movement.

The Big Cloud I: by Camille Seaman

“Many people look at my storm photographs and see terrible beauty, or menacing power. It’s easy to say all destruction is bad. But a storm implies something that will pass. You weather a storm. We don’t live in a perpetual state of storm; it’s an event. And at the end of the day, we don’t stand outside the storm. We live inside it.”

Images by Alon Koppel from Lake Kachess, Washington: (1) three-hour and (2,3) forty-five minute trichromatic photographs of the other side of the shore.

The name Kachess comes from a Native American term meaning “more fish”, in contrast to Keechelus Lake, whose name means “few fish”.

The lake is used as a storage reservoir for the Yakima Project, an irrigation project run by the United States Bureau of Reclamation. Although a natural lake, Kachess Lake’s capacity and discharge is controlled by Kachess Dam.
