Iām scientific but also spiritual. Iām fascinated by the metaphysical yet skeptical and doubting. Itās mind blowing what we are capable of. And this break down of how the spiritual and science are talking about the same things with different vocabulary really resonates.
Spirituality and science, two things that spend most of their time arguing with each other when theyāre actually trying to explain the same stuff from different angles.
iām deep into psychology and neuroscience as you all know by now. thatās obvious from everything I write. What usually catches people off guard is when i tell them iām equally deep into spirituality.
iām not religious in the traditional sense. but i find it genuinely fascinating and i take practical wisdom from every holy text iāve read. the bible, the quran, the bhagavad gita, the tao te ching.
those books are loaded with psychological and philosophical insight that holds up regardless of whether you share the theology.
the wisdom is real. youād be a fool to dismiss it just because of the packaging.
but the thing people really donāt expect from me is this.
i fully believe in energies. chakras. auras. life force. qi. prana. the breath of life.
the idea that the human body carries and projects something beyond whatās visible.
and i know how that sounds coming from someone who talks about prefrontal cortex function and dopamine receptor sensitivity for fun.
hereās the thing though.
when you actually look at the science, the gap between what spirituality calls energy and what physics calls energy is a lot smaller than most people think.
your body produces and uses energy constantly through adenosine triphosphate. ATP is the cellular currency that drives every biological process you have.
your heart generates an electromagnetic field measurable several feet outside your body.
your nervous system operates through electrical signals and neurons create measurable electromagnetic fields. you radiate approximately 145 watts of heat and infrared radiation continuously.
the human body is an electrical system operating within a wider electromagnetic environment.
short-lived electrical events called action potentials occur in neurons. these action potentials facilitate intercellular communication and activate intracellular processes.
you are literally emitting energy. measurably and provably.
when spirituality talks about the aura (the subtle luminous field surrounding the body that reflects emotional and mental states) and science talks about the bodyās electromagnetic signature, theyāre describing overlapping phenomena using different vocabulary.
when traditional chinese medicine talks about qi flowing through meridians, and modern research shows that the nervous system creates bioelectromagnetic pathways through the body that influence organ function and emotional states, theyāre pointing at the same territory.
same thing just different maps.
the spiritual traditions were working with limited observational tools but extraordinary intuition. science is working with instruments but sometimes limited imagination.
somewhere between them is the truth.
somewhere between them is the idea that you are an energy system that happens to have a body as its physical expressionā¦
black coffee as usual. something ambient and slow playing. candle lit. letās actually get into it.
WHAT ARE VIBRATIONS AND WHY THEYāRE REAL
"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration." ā Nikola Tesla
everything vibrates.
this is simple physics.
matter at the quantum level is not solid. itās vibrational. particles are in constant motion. molecules oscillate. the frequency at which things vibrate determines their state, their properties, their interaction with other matter.
your body is no different.
people like to write it off as mystical bu****it but itās true.
your cells oscillate. your neurons fire in rhythmic electrical patterns. your heart beats in measurable cycles. your brain produces waves, delta, theta, alpha, beta, gamma, each at different frequencies corresponding to different states of consciousness, attention, and emotion.
the idea that some people carry a different energetic frequency is extrapolation of real physics into the domain of human psychology and biology.
and the practical reality of it is something everyone has experienced even if they never had the language for it.
youāve walked into a room and felt something shift.
youāve been around certain people and felt lighter, more alive, more energized than when you arrived.
youāve been around others and felt something drain from you that you couldnāt quite name.
thatās not just imagination.
your nervous system is a detection instrument. it picks up patterns in other peopleās behaviour, micro-expressions, vocal tone, posture, cortisol levels being expressed through their body, all of it below the level of conscious processing.
and it integrates all of that input into a felt sense.
what spirituality calls energy, psychology calls social and emotional contagion.
the mechanism is real either way.
the perspective is the only thing that differs.
CHAKRAS - THE SPIRITUAL AND THE SCIENTIFIC
chakras are described in ayurvedic and yogic traditions as spinning vortices of energy along the spine, each one associated with different emotional, physical, and spiritual states.
most people dismiss this immediately because it sounds like folklore.
but i want you to look at what the chakras actually correspond to and then look at what anatomy says about the same locations.
the root chakra at the base of the spine corresponds in the scientific model to the sacral nerve plexus, the network of nerves governing the legs, pelvic floor, and the fight or flight survival response.
same location and same function in both systems. one says it governs safety and survival. the other says it governs the autonomic stress response.
the solar plexus chakra corresponds to the celiac plexus, the largest autonomic nerve plexus in the body. this is literally where the gut-brain connection is most dense. the region most associated with gut feeling, intuition, the visceral emotional responses we describe as coming from the stomach.
the heart chakra corresponds to the cardiac plexus and the region where the vagus nerve, the primary regulator of the parasympathetic nervous system, is most active. the vagus nerve governs social connection, emotional regulation, and the felt sense of safety with others.
the throat chakra corresponds to the pharyngeal plexus governing speech and communication.
iām not saying chakras are literal spinning wheels of light that we have in our bodies.
iām saying the ancient traditions mapped the bodyās major energetic and emotional centres with remarkable accuracy using observation rather than instruments.
and modern anatomy, when you lay them side by side, describes the same territory in different language.
HIGH VIBRATIONAL AND LOW VIBRATIONAL PEOPLE
"Everything is energy and that's all there is to it." ā Albert Einstein
this is where it gets practical and was what i really wanted to talk about in this post.
vibration in the human sense is essentially the quality of energy a person carries and projects into their environment.
and itās not complicated to identify once you know what youāre looking at.
high vibrational people are not perfect people. theyāre not endlessly positive or perpetually happy.
theyāre people who are in genuine alignment with themselves.
their words, actions, and inner state are pointed in the same direction.
thereās no chronic leak between what they feel and what they express, between what they say and what they do.
theyāve done enough internal work that theyāre not constantly at war with themselves below the surface.
and that internal coherence radiates.
you feel settled around them and clear. simply at peace.
neurologically what youāre experiencing is nervous system co-regulation.
the social nervous system, through the vagus nerve and mirror neuron systems, is constantly reading the state of other nervous systems.
when youāre around someone who is genuinely regulated, your own nervous system tends toward regulation.
when youāre around someone chronically dysregulated, anxious, reactive, your own nervous system picks that up too.
this is why certain people energize you and certain people exhaust you.
your nervous system is working 24/7 to detect this s**t.
on the other hand low vibrational people are chronically dysregulated.
theyāre operating from fear, unresolved trauma, reactive patterns, unconscious belief systems that keep them in loops.
and that dysregulation doesnāt stay inside them.
it contaminates the emotional field of any room theyāre in.
the constant complaining. the drama that follows them everywhere. the way conversations always bend back toward negativity. the gossip, the outrage, the endless tribalism.
all of it is a dysregulated nervous system looking for external stimulation to feel something or to discharge built-up tension.
BECOMING BORING TO LOW VIBRATIONAL ENERGY
this is the section i want you to sit with.
as you do the work, as you actually raise your own baseline through what you put in your mind and body, through who you spend time with, through the internal processing work, something interesting starts to happen.
low vibrational conversations start to feel genuinely boring.
somebody tries to pull you into political outrage. the epstein files dropped, bro, s**t is insane.
billionaires doing fu**ed up things on islands while the news cycle runs every eighteen hours so the masses forget and move to the next thing.
i mean a few months removed and it seems as a large majority of the population has just come to terms with it.
āyeah. okay. what are we going to do about it?ā
iāve written about this before and iāll say it again. everything is designed to divide. the news, the political narrative, social media, all of it exploits the same evolutionary vulnerability.
we are tribal creatures.
the brain craves in-group and out-group dynamics. itās not optional. we divide along every available line, religion, race, class, politics, gender, sports teams, because the neural architecture for tribalism is older than language.
and the system knows this.
the argument about whether the left or right is destroying the country, the sports argument, the celebrity drama.
all of it is a perfect distraction mechanism precisely because it plugs directly into the most primitive tribal wiring in the brain.
and once you see the mechanism, participating in it starts to feel like handing someone your attention for free.
someone brings up something that was clearly designed to provoke a reaction.
āyeah, thatās crazy.ā
and thatās genuinely all it gets from me.
itās not because i donāt care about the world. but because i understand that two people arguing about left vs right over coffee changes nothing about what left vs right does other than divide you and the person you are talking with.
your energy is a currency.
high vibrational people spend it deliberately.
THE AURA IS YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM
i know the word aura has become a meme recently but that s**t is genuinely real.
the aura in spiritual traditions is described as a subtle luminous field surrounding the body that reflects the personās emotional and mental state.
different colours and densities corresponding to different internal states.
people with developed sensitivity can apparently perceive it.
from a scientific standpoint, the human body emits biophotons. literally. measurable light emissions from biological processes.
the body also emits infrared radiation, has a measurable electromagnetic field generated by the heart that extends several feet from the body, and the nervous systemās electrical activity creates patterns detectable outside the skin.
the aura is probably not a literal field of coloured light that clairvoyants can see with their eyes.
but the idea that the body projects its internal state into the space around it? completely consistent with what the science shows.
spirituality names it.
neuroscience explains the mechanism.
both are pointing at the same real phenomenon.
HOW TO RAISE YOUR OWN FREQUENCY
"Your vibe attracts your tribe." - ixcarus
given everything above i hope i was able to bridge the gap between spirituality and science a little bit and how they are actually extremely similar.
if you still think that spiritual stuff is woo woo stuff, just look at it from the science standpoint then.
itās nervous system regulation. itās intentional neuroplasticity. itās choosing inputs that compound upward instead of downward.
so below are some practical pieces of advice to raise your own frequency and become high vibrational.
what you consume determines your baseline.
your mind runs on its inputs exactly the way your body runs on its food.
two hours of outrage content, doom scrolling, gossip, negative social comparison, sets the neurochemical baseline for the day. cortisol elevated. amygdala primed. nervous system in low-grade threat mode.
two hours of deep reading, meaningful conversation, time in nature, creative work, sets a completely different baseline.
the frequency you operate at daily is largely the aggregate of what youāve been feeding your mind and nervous system.
your environment is always programming you.
the people you spend the most time with are doing something to your nervous system whether youāre consciously aware of it or not.
chronic exposure to dysregulated people dysregulates you.
chronic exposure to regulated, purposeful, genuinely intentional people does the opposite.
this is why the five people you spend the most time with is a neurological reality.
your body is the first instrument.
exercise. sleep. real food. sunlight. breath.
i have posts on all of these and how to optimize it to the max.
you can find those posts by clicking this
but long story short.
the physical baseline determines the energetic baseline.
itās very difficult to operate at high frequency when your body is chronically depleted, inflamed, and under-slept.
the ancient traditions knew this which is why every serious spiritual practice was always paired with physical discipline.
yoga, meditation, fasting, breathwork.
the body and the energy are not separate.
silence is the tuning.
the reason most people never find their own frequency is they never sit still long enough to feel it.
constant stimulation keeps the nervous system calibrated to external input.
silence and stillness allow the system to recalibrate to itself.
ten minutes a day of genuine quiet, no phone, no music, no input, just you and whateverās actually there, changes things over time in ways that are hard to describe and impossible to fake.
THE BOTTOM LINE
energy is real.
your body produces it, radiates it, and responds to it in other people every moment of every day.
what spirituality calls vibration and what science calls neurological and electromagnetic output are describing the same thing with different vocabularies.
high vibrational people are regulated, coherent, internally aligned.
low vibrational people are dysregulated, reactive, chronically leaking energy through unresolved internal conflict.
and the work of raising your frequency is not lighting incense and hoping for the best.
itās the daily discipline of what you consume, who you spend time with, how you treat your body, and whether you ever sit still long enough to hear whatās actually underneath all the noise.
the science and the spirituality are both pointing at the same destination.
you just get to choose which map youāre more comfortable reading.
