Are you seeing RED?
Due to an unexpected opening in our November exhibition schedule, Magpie Artspace is putting together a show on a much shorter timeline than usual—and we’re looking for artists ready to explore RED.
Red is passion and danger. Love and anger. Blood, fire, heat, warning, power, desire. It can demand attention from across a room or appear as one small, impossible-to-ignore mark.
For our November First Friday, Magpie Artspace is inviting artists to respond to RED.
We’re open to interpretation and to medium. Painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, installation. We’re looking for work with a contemporary point of view. Shift the perspective. Push the composition. Give us red that feels current, layered, and alive.
Think crimson. Scarlet. Vermilion. Burgundy. Brick. Rust. Cherry. Lipstick. Roses. Stop signs. Tail lights. Embers. Blood. Red earth. Red as love. Red as fury. Red as danger. Red as something that refuses to be ignored.
Maybe you’re seeing red. Maybe it’s just one red moment.
New or existing work is eligible—and with our short turnaround, existing work is absolutely welcome.
Media: All visual media considered (2D, 3D, fiber, assemblage, mixed media, photography, small installations). All work meant for hanging must have a wire installed.
