New England artist, Yeukai Imeh, stands proudly in her studio next to her breathtaking work of a raven soaring over some children.

Being of Zimbabwean descent, Imeh makes sure her work pays homage to her African heritage, making use of similar subject matter, color palettes, etc. All of which help bring Imeh’s artistic visions to life, as shown by the countless pieces strewn throughout her studio.

Yeukai’s hope is to bring people of different cultures and backgrounds together through the medium of art, believing it to be the avenue through which those of differing languages can communicate. We at the Indian Orchard Mills are in full support of Yeukai’s efforts.

Art is the wordless language that everybody can understand, and is the path countless have taken in order to bring about unity, love, and comfort throughout numerous generations. It’s good to see Yeukai carry on this legacy.

New England artist, Patricia Jenks, poses with two her three of her paintings intent on “squaring the circle” for Ukraine.

Despite her English heritage, Jenks has been immensely touched the Ukrainian efforts to fend off Russian invasion. Believing that there was more that she could do, she began to create these paintings to spread support for the cause, the proceeds of which will be donated directly to supporting Ukraine.

Patricia’s work is a clear example of the sheer impact of artists and their work. Art not only gives ourselves a distinct, creative voice, it gives voice to ongoing conflicts as well. It’s through our creative work that we are able to spread the word about conflicts that are personal to us, and hopefully inspire those in more powerful positions to do something about it.

When viewed through this lens, Patricia’s work is not just beautifully done, but contains a beautiful message of hope, unity, and care for our fellow neighbor.

The Indian Orchard Mills has been home to countless unimaginably talented artists throughout the years. And each of them has managed to bring their own unique, inspired flare to their work, resulting in the Mills remaining an attractive spot for creativity all the years. Whether it be portraits, landscapes, wildlife, or anything in between, the artists at the Mills has something to offer everyone!

While some artists prefer their oil and acrylic paints, others tend to go for a more modern, air brushed approach. The folks over at Remix Studio (a studio housed at the Indian Orchard Mills) go exactly that.

Whether it be pop culture or their own original work, those at Remix go for a more modern feel with their work; leaning more on dark outlines and flat colors. The result is amazing, eye catching work that both echoes the feel of their importation, as well as managing to house their own unique flare.

It really goes to show that the medium of painting can take on a multitude of forms, and it only leaves us here at the Mills in high anticipation of what will come from Remix Studio next.

Artists tend to find their subject matter in a variety if ways; portraits, landscapes, still lives, etc. But when it comes to Massachusetts artist, Sue James, she finds that her best subjects are often found in her own family.

Sue’s family pictures are hung throughout her studio, each managing to capture the unique character and feel of their subjects. Whether it be of lounging on the couch, posing for a portrait, or creating a sort of “hug sandwich”, Sue’s paintings always manage to capture a sense of appreciation for their subjects. They may even leave you with an appreciation for your own family.

The IOM Open Studios is over, but we have good news for those who missed out on going. The Indian Orchard Mills Dane Gallery will remain open from 12-3 for all of May!

New England artist, Renee Rutana, has always had a love for the outdoors, more specifically, the beach.

Her work always manages to capture the sheer beauty of the ocean and life of the marina. Her confinement paint strokes complement her eye for color and calming subject matter beautifully. All of which combine to make for wonderful, eye catching pieces that make you long for the seaside yourself.
