Independence Italian Cultural Museum Built in 1908 as the former Mater Dolorosa Church, the museum allows visitors to experience local history via old photos, antiques, and family histories.

The Independence Italian Cultural Museum will be hosting their 7th annual “A Night in Little Italy gala” on Saturday, August 29. Museum tour will be from 5 PM to 6 PM followed by dinner and a silent auction at 6 PM at Mater Dolorosa school gym.

Mark your calendars for our 7th annual A Night in Little Italy “Sotto le Stelle.” If you have a taste for authentic Sicilian Italian cuisine, this is the place to be on August 29, 2026 at 6:00 pm. There will be a silent auction as well.
$50 tickets can be purchased online on our new website or you can call 985-320-6007 for additional information.
All proceeds will be utilized for techno color laptop to display photos and videos during museum tours, new awning, exterior painting, and replace exterior flower box.

You are cordially invited to join us for a family-oriented celebration at our Annual Cucuzza Day on July 11th, featuring contests for the longest, heaviest, and most unusual shaped cucuzza, as well as best cucuzza dishes, with a requirement to bring a written recipe with each dish, and activities tailored for children.
