Step back in time to circa 1925

These historic golf photos, captured by Leo Hetzel, offer a glimpse into early leisure life in the Imperial Valley—where wide-open landscapes met a growing love for the game. From vintage attire to rustic fairways, it’s a reminder of how recreation and community have long been part of our region’s story.

Good luck to all the participants in Pioneers' Museum Third Annual Golf Tournament this Saturday!

Spanish has landed at Pioneers' Museum. Meet Monserratt Fernandez (left) and Susana Carbajal (right), SDSU Calexico students volunteering their time to translate interpretive signage at the museum. With aproximately 86% of Imperial County being spanish speaking in the home (CensusReporter.org), this is an essential task. We are beyond grateful for their lasting contributions and their joyful presence around the museum. Big thanks and best of luck with grad school!
