Tomorrow, history makers Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen will receive the Congressional Space Medal of Honor for their historic Artemis II mission around the Moon.

Just weeks ago, we had the incredible honor of welcoming Reid Wiseman and Christina Koch to the Cosmosphere, where they shared their experiences, inspired our team and connected with the next generation of explorers.

Seeing them recognized on a national stage makes that visit feel even more special.

From Hutchinson to the Moon and back, their journey reminds us what is possible when curiosity, courage and a commitment to exploration come together.

🌕 Kansas, look up tonight!

A spectacular partial lunar eclipse will unfold across the Kansas sky tonight, August 27. At its peak around 11:12 p.m., nearly 93% of the Moon will be covered by Earth’s shadow, giving much of the Moon a striking reddish-orange glow.

The eclipse begins around 8:23 p.m. and continues into the early morning hours. No special eye protection is needed, so step outside, look up and enjoy the show! 🌎🔭

We are still starstruck! 🤩

A truly inspiring video from Senator Jerry Moran and his team from last week when the Artemis II Astronauts Reid Wiseman and Christina Koch, along with NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman visited us at the Cosmosphere! It's hard to put into words how much having this group walk through our Hall of Space Museum and world-class education department means to us. The future of space exploration is bright, and we are working to do everything we can to inspire the next generation, and prepare them for what's to come!

🚀 We’re still reeling from Tuesday!

A few more photos from an extraordinary day at the Cosmosphere with Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and U.S. Senator Jerry Moran.

What made the visit especially meaningful was the opportunity to bring together spaceflight, history and education in one place. Our guests spent time throughout the museum and connected with our Education team, seeing firsthand how the Cosmosphere uses space exploration to spark curiosity, build STEAM skills and help students imagine what’s possible.

Moments like these reinforce why preserving our space history matters. The artifacts in our collection tell the story of where we’ve been, while our educators help prepare the next generation for where we’re going.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this a day to remember. And yes… we’re still processing it. 🌙

🚨 WE’VE BEEN KEEPING A SECRET… 🚀

Today, the Cosmosphere had the incredible honor of welcoming Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, along with U.S. Senator Jerry Moran, for a special visit to the museum.

Following the successful Artemis II mission, Wiseman, Koch, and Isaacman toured our collection, explored the museum, interacted with students in our education department, joined us for a special Q&A where they shared firsthand stories and experiences from their journey around the Moon, and helped us celebrate space in style with an all-hands-in cheer before exiting the building and heading home. 🌙

Commander Wiseman has previously stated that the Cosmosphere is "the Best Space Museum on Planet Earth", and during his address he proudly reiterated that statement.

The Cosmosphere is dedicated to preserving the history of space exploration and inspiring the next generation of explorers, and having two members of the Artemis II crew walk through our doors was an unforgettable moment.
