If you would like to participate in Saturday Morning Art Sessions remotely, feel free to draw or paint this week's model and share your images with us via email at [email protected]. Images are shared on Saturday afternoons with credit to the artists. We ask that artists working remotely send their artwork to us by 3:30 PM the same day of the session in order to be included.

✨ Have you ever dreamt of modeling? If so, now you can turn that dream into a reality and earn some extra cash! ✨

The Saturday Morning Artists group meets every Saturday from 9:00 - 11:30 AM. We ask the model to arrive at the Hutchinson Art Center by 9:15 AM.

The artists work in four 20-minute sessions with 10-minute breaks in between sittings.

Modeling is not done n**e -- all models are clothed. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

The Hutchinson Art Center pays each model $40 for the daily session.

This weekend is your 🚨LAST CHANCE 🚨 to view the Pat Potucek Retrospective at the Hutchinson Art Center!

The largest exhibition of her artwork since 2012, this retrospective explores the renowned Kansas artist's colorful life through her artwork, as well as artifacts such as newspaper clippings, photographs, books, and more.

Born in 1925 in Cowley County, Kansas, Pat Potucek was an artist of acrylic, pen and ink, watercolor, and more. Any surface she could paint, draw, or decorate, she did.

Educated at the Kansas City Art Institute and later at Kansas State University, she created illustrations for Wiley’s and Pegues department stores and the Hutchinson News. She gained recognition for her portraiture, murals, and still-life paintings as well as her work with papier-mâché. At one point, Hollywood offered her a job as a set designer, and Hallmark Cards wanted to hire her, but she decided to raise her family and continue making art in Hutchinson.

Pat Potucek was making artwork up to the week of her death in 2011. Her presence continues to be felt in Hutchinson and beyond, with her artwork decorating people’s homes and the walls of schools, galleries, and other businesses and institutions.

The exhibition is on display now in our Main Gallery through THIS Saturday! Be sure to make plans to visit Hutchinson Art Center this weekend because you will not want to miss out on this incredible exhibition!

This week is your 🚨 LAST CHANCE 🚨 last chance to see "Scenes from Portugal" by Larry Carver, on display in our Front Gallery!

Starting photography over 40 years ago, Carver recently began focusing his photographic skills on nature and travel photography following his retirement from Hutchinson Community College, where he was the Director of Instructional Technology and Virtual Learning.

Carver has won over 20 ribbons in the Professional Photography Division at the Kansas State Fair, including a Best of Show and a Best of Show Runner-up. Carver has also had several of his images published in regional and national publications, including the High Plains Journal, and his photographic works can be found in public and private collections in the Hutchinson area.

Carver and his wife Joyce have traveled throughout the United States and to Italy, Spain, France, Holland, Ireland, England, and Scotland where he focused on photographing cathedrals and churches as well as other traditional locations. His photography is an expression of what he saw in his mind at the moment the images were captured by the camera. Using applications like Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop CC, Carver replicates the mood of the image so that the scene photographed is reproduced on the computer, and finally on paper or canvas.

🚨 This week is your last chance to submit artwork to this year's Hutchinson Art Association Members Art Show! 🚨

Artist members of the Hutchinson Art Center are invited to submit artwork to our 2026 Hutchinson Art Association Members Art Show – all mediums are accepted, and artists of all ages are welcome. We are so excited to see what you have been creating lately and cannot wait to showcase your art this year!

Guidelines:
-Artists must have a current Hutchinson Art Center membership to be eligible to participate. (Not a member? Learn how to by visiting our website at https://www.hutchinsonartcenter.net/membership).
-Artists can submit one piece each to the exhibit (exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis for diptychs and triptychs). 2D and 3D artwork is accepted.
-Submissions are limited to a maximum of 5 feet in width, height, and depth.
-Only artworks completed within the past two years will be accepted into this show.
-All submitted artwork needs a note attached to the back (for 2D) or to the bottom (for 3D) of the piece upon delivery to the Hutchinson Art Center. The note should list the artist’s name, the piece’s title, its price or NFS (Not For Sale), medium, and the year it was made.
-2D artwork must be ready to hang, with either a wire or a sawtooth hanger on the back.

**Artwork MUST be delivered to the Art Center this Saturday, August 29th during regular business hours**

All participating artists are encouraged to attend the opening reception on September 4th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Hutchinson Art Center. Family and friends of the artists, Hutchinson Art Center members, and the general public are all invited to attend and celebrate this wonderful gathering of creativity! **Admission is FREE and open to the public.**

It's that time of the year again!

The Hutchinson Art Association will host its annual public board meeting at the Hutchinson Art Center this week on Wednesday, August 26th, starting at 4:00 PM.

This meeting is open to the public and is expected to run approximately 60 to 90 minutes. The meeting will include time at the end for questions from members of the public. This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about what our organization has been working on and to make your voice heard to the Hutchinson Art Association Board of Directors.

Throughout the month of August, the Hutchinson Art Center will spotlight some of the artwork as well as memories and stories featured as part of the Pat Potucek Retrospective, now on display in our Main Gallery through August 29th.

Pat Potucek loved her family above anything else. Her oil painting "Days of Wine and Roses" is a love letter to her family and heritage, and a testament to her artistic capabilities.

Significant artifacts were assembled for this magnificent still life. These objects represent a family's combined heritage: a brass heirloom candlestick represents Potucek ancestry, a crystal bowl represents the German Knops, and Irish lace signifies the Pudden legacy. Family celebrations are signified by a bottle of Dom Perignon that was opened to celebrate the new millennium; fruit represents Grandpa Pudden's Irish saying, "Peaches in the summer and apples in the fall ... God bless the girlies we love them all."; roses signify love and marriage. Pat signed her work with a "self-portrait"—her high school photograph on a small easel.
