Mike Bruce
November 4, 1938 - August 6, 2026

On August 6, 2026, Mike Bruce, 87, went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife.

Mike lived a life devoted to God and service. He was easily recognized by his impressive handlebar mustache. Mike never met a stranger and was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Back-to-school season is the perfect time for students thinking about the future to explore VFW scholarships.

The VFW is proud to invest in the next generation by encouraging patriotism, civic engagement, and educational achievement through our national youth scholarship programs.

🔴Voice of Democracy is open to students in grades 9–12, offering the opportunity to compete for up to a $35,000 national scholarship.

⚪Patriot's Pen is open to students in grades 6–8, with the top national award of $5,000.

🔵Students compete for awards and scholarships at the Post, District, Department (State), and National levels.

Review the timeline to stay on track, then contact your local VFW Post to learn how to enter. All student entries must be submitted to a participating VFW Post by October 31.

📚🍎 School is back in session… at the museum! 🍎📚
⭐️⭐️EDIT: GOLD STARS GIVEN TO THOSE WHO BRING IN A PHOTO FROM HIGH SCHOOL⭐️⭐️

Class is almost in session, and this month’s Veterans Breakfast is going BACK TO SCHOOL!

We’re inviting everyone to come dressed the way you remember going to school. Whether you were the class clown, the football star, the kid with the pocket protector, the one who definitely didn’t start the food fight, or the student who walked uphill both ways in the snow… now’s your chance to relive those glory days!

📸 Need a little inspiration? Tara and I dug up a couple of our own high school pictures to get everyone in the school spirit. Consider them your official inspiration pics… and yes, we’re brave enough to share them with all of you! 😂

Dust off those letterman jackets, saddle shoes, poodle skirts, overalls, horn-rimmed glasses, plaid shirts, or whatever takes you back to your school days.

No homework.
Pop quizzes have been replaced with breakfast.
Extra credit awarded for school spirit (and maybe a few good stories from the “good old days!”)

We can’t wait to see everyone in class. Just remember… the only thing you’ll be graded on is how much fun you have!

Yoga has been canceled today for safety due to scattered thunderstorms and in the afternoon, the possibility of heavy local rainfall.
The forecast also calls for flooding south of us and we don't want Yogi Jim trudging through that to get to us.
Please stay safe and dry.
