The stage is being set for one of the first official events of the 2026 West Tennessee Strawberry Festival, the WTRAC Strawberry Festival Invitational Art Exhibition.

Now in its 20th year, the Center has had the honor of showcasing works of scores of talented West Tennessee visual artists!

Already installed are works by Stormie Steele, Susan Hyback, and Mary P Spellings. Arriving VERY soon: works by dedicated high school art instructors, Melanie Anderson and Jennifer Harants.

As a surprise bonus this time — a display of beautifully framed Festival theme posters from the past designed and painted by Debra Williams Spegal. It’s the first time in many years that they’ve been displayed as a collection!

Please come join us for the opening event on Sunday, May 3rd, from 2-4 in the afternoon. It’s open to the public, refreshments will be served, and admission is free!

Our juror once again will be the very wise and eloquent Brian Bundren of Freed-Hardeman University. He will speak briefly, with enlightened commentary on each of the Invitational artists’ work.

Thank you to the talented team at Bramblett Group in Henderson, Tennessee, for capturing moving, evocative images and video during our recent 30th Anniversary Patrons event. They’ve adeptly edited it into a two-and-one-half minute compilation that encapsulates the essence of not just the event but of much of our organization’s history and programming!

An exuberant group from Lakeland Preparatory School visited the Center on Monday, March 2nd! It was the final day of the 18th annual West Tennessee Regional Student Art Exhibition — a fitting finale for the latest installment of a program that somehow seems to get better with each passing year!

Just a relatively random plethora of photos from the recent awards reception for the 18th annual West Tennessee Regional Student Art Exhibition for middle and high school students…

After two weather-related postponements, the event took place on Presidents Day weekend. We were concerned that attendance would be negatively impacted, but the turnout was gratifying!

The exhibition has been held over through Monday, March 2nd, because Lakeland Prep’s field trip (you guessed it!) had to be postponed until then.

During the reception, the best of show purchase award winners from the first 17 years were on display.

The Honorable Arthur Boykin, mayor of Humboldt, welcomed guests and spoke eloquently of the significance of visual art and of the Art Center.

As always, we’re grateful to the Tennessee Art Education Association (TAEA) for partnering with us on this significant statewide student exhibition program!
