Memory Monday...
This week's picture is a city square picture (but not a bandstand picture). Taken 11 Sept 1921, there were lots of people in town for the band concert, which featured award winning bands from Humboldt, Falls City, and Hiawatha, Kansas. It was estimated that there were about 4,000 people and 600 cars.

Memory Monday...
Let's continue with the Square Park for a few more weeks. This picture, taken in 1910, shows the park with the old bandstand. The person taking the picture was standing on the south side of the square, looking north (if you enlarge it enough you can see the hotel through the trees). Obviously it's before the current bandstand and the concrete arches at the center of each side.

Registration: begins at 10am to Noon
Voting for People's choice awards: Noon to 2pm
Awards are presented at 2pm

Museum will be open during the car show!
Humboldt cafes open for lunch & several businesses open for shopping - support local!

Vendors & Music in the Humboldt City park.
Then enjoy the Chamber of Commerce, Humboldt, NE. - BBQ at
the Richardson County Ag Building from 5pm to 7pm
FREE fireworks at dusk by the Humboldt Volunteer Firemen at the ball field!

Memory Monday...
After last week's picture of the square, it seemed like it might be good to share pictures of the square park through the years. This pictures is labeled "Humboldt n 1873" so it predates last week's picture by about 10 years. It is probably the east side of the square in the background, but that's difficult to be sure of since all the frame buildings were replaced with brick years ago.

Memory Monday...
Unfortunately the procrastination bug hit last week. So this week we're going to visit the Park Hotel one last time. The date is not given but I suspect that car aficionados can narrow the date. It's obviously much later than the previous picture, the car is a later model and the steps are concrete. If you look through the trees the church in the background appears to be the most recent Christian Church (which was dedicated in 1959). That would also mean that by this time the restaurant would have been added to the north end.
