Robert A. Webster, Jr., 98, of Hughesville, died Friday, October 9, 2026, at Wolf Run Village.
Born September 17, 1928, in Muncy, he was a son of the late Robert Webster, Sr. and Dorothy (Aderhold) Webster. Robert was a beloved educator, local historian, and cherished family member who enriched the lives of many in his community.
Robert dedicated over 60 years to teaching at Hughesville High School, where he ignited a passion for learning in countless students. His journey in education began in a one-room schoolhouse at Mazeppa School, where he laid the foundation for a storied career that encapsulated his love for history and shaping young minds. A passionate member of the East Lycoming Historical Society, Robert proudly shared his knowledge and love of local history through over 200 community talks, fostering a deeper appreciation for the rich heritage of the area.
In addition to his remarkable career, Robert was known for his vibrant personality and diverse interests. He found joy in gardening and was an avid sprint car racing enthusiast. Each summer, he took on the seasonal task of painting houses, an endeavor that showcased his dedication to hard work and community beautification. And no matter the occasion, Robert's love for cookies brought smiles to the faces of those he encountered.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jill Webster, of Hughesville; sons, Jefferey (Kathleen) Webster of Muncy, and Roger Webster of Hughesville; step-son, Mark (Darlene) Maroney of Hughesville; step-daughter, Diane (Peter) Lore of Dublin, OH; grandchildren: Benjamin Webster, Lucas Webster, Graham Webster, Erika Webster, Patrick Fogel, Marjorie Gold, and Nigel Webster; step-grandchildren: Jillian Crumpton, Emily Cotter, Heather Simmons, and Kelly Miller; sister, Jean Robbins of Williamsport; five great-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Robert is also preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (Foust) Webster and his daughter, Patricia Webster.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.
In accordance with the family's wishes, interment will be private.
