Last week, Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston welcomed members of the Red Hat Society—our 13th (and counting) community group visit of the year. While we regularly host school field trips, visits like these remind us that learning doesn’t end in the classroom.

These women brought with them style, curiosity, and thoughtful conversation filling the museum with their spirit and love.

Whether someone is visiting for the first time on a school trip or returning as part of a community group, our goal remains the same: to promote the universal values of truth, nonviolence, peace, love, and service.

We’re grateful to the Red Hat Society for spending part of their day with us, and to every community group that has walked through our doors so far this year. Your presence continues to shape what this museum is becoming.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming undergraduate students from Prairie View A&M University, along with their professor, Dr. Michael Nojeim, who teaches the course “Gandhi and King.”

Besides a shared commitment to nonviolence, truth, and service several of these young scholars shared interest in pursuing law school—just like Mahatma Gandhi!

Dr. Nojeim previously visited the museum to present his lecture, “My Path to Nonviolence,” and is the author of “Gandhi and King: The Power of Nonviolent Resistance.”

We look forward to welcoming more students and Dr. Nojeim back to continue the conversation on connections between Gandhi and King.

A visitor experience today became something truly memorable!

Two members of the same family are named after Mahatma Gandhi ✨

Their family was deeply moved by the film Gandhi years ago, and chose to honor him through these names. Seeing the museum together brought that connection into a living, present moment.

They spent a long time with the exhibits, moving through the space with real reflection and presence.

Moments like these remind us how Gandhi’s legacy continues to live on—in names, in memory, and in the people who carry his story forward. 🌱

What does it mean to practice nonviolence in everyday life?

Yesterday, Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston welcomed 45 participants for Nonviolence: An Eternal Power, a day-long workshop exploring nonviolence as both a personal practice and a force for social change.

In partnership with , Founder, Michael Nagler alongside educator and facilitator, Amery Kessler guided participants through reflection, dialogue, and a shared viewing of The Third Harmony. Together, participants considered how nonviolence can shape not only our communities, but the way we move through the world.

One framework explored was the “two hands of nonviolence”: holding one hand up to say, “I will not submit to injustice,” while offering the other in openness, recognizing our shared humanity.

Participants left with take-home resources and practical tools to continue this work in their daily lives—transforming fear and anger into compassion, connection, and action.

Thank you to for Nonviolence for your partnership and leadership.

What does it mean to live a life rooted in nonviolence—for ourselves, our communities, and the world we share?

Join us for a thoughtful workshop exploring nonviolence as both an inner practice and a powerful force for social and environmental change. Together we will reflect on how courage, compassion, and connection can awaken a different kind of power rooted in human dignity.
Participants will engage in reflection and dialogue and view the film The Third Harmony: Nonviolence and the New Story of Human Nature, which explores research showing that cooperation, compassion, and connection are deeply rooted in human nature. The workshop invites us to consider how these ideas can strengthen our communities and support more constructive responses to conflict in everyday life.

Presented in partnership with the Metta Center for Nonviolence, an international organization dedicated to nonviolence education. Participants will also have access to ongoing resources and follow-up opportunities for those who wish to continue exploring these ideas in their lives and communities.

🥗 Lunch included.
