You may be familiar with the mural entitled THE CULTIVATION OF RASPBERRIES that was rescued from the 1935 Hopkins Post Office by two founding members of the Hopkins Historical Society, before it was demolished in 1972. This is a photo of our official copy of the mural, and a photo of the poster in our museum that tells the story of that rescue.

The original mural, having been conserved by the Wiseman Art Gallery, now hangs in Washington, DC, in the office of Senator Amy Klobuchar. Come to the museum to see the mural in its entirety - it's magnificent!

One of the "jewels" the HHS has is the HOPKINS MUSTER ROLL, published in 1946 containing a photo and a short bio of nearly every service man and woman from Hopkins who served during WWII.

We have LOTS of records in our museum that are not online. Everyone is welcome to come in and we'd be happy to help them research their family time in Hopkins!

A little fun for the end of July…..this brick outhouse was behind the house located at 805-2nd St S in 1938. It was demolished in 1973, making it the last brick outhouse in Hopkins.

Here is a message from one of wonderful volunteers, Suzette!
One of the best reasons to volunteer for a Historical or Genealogical Society is to help others find information about their family or the local area.
Today at the Hopkins Historical Society, with the help of another volunteer, we were able to assist one woman who was trying to find out where her parents and grandparents lived. We teamed up and were able to pull local directories, yearbooks, and a couple of newspaper articles. She was able to photograph the information and take it back to Georgia to add to information she already has.
We also had a couple come in and browse the museum. After talking for a bit, we learned the husband was having a hard time tracing his paternal Czech ancestry. He wasn’t sure what village his great-grandfather came from, we were able to give him resources on where to start his search on possible locations. After further discussion, he provided more surname information and we pulled a family file that lead us to the exact villages that he…or his wife…could research further.
It is so much fun to help others with their research!

STAGES THEATRE. Honoring Our History, Inspiring Our Future!
Since our founding in 1984 as Child’s Play Theatre Company, Stages Theatre Company (STC) has helped Hopkins youth build confidence, empathy, and lifelong skills. Our goal isn't just to prepare kids for the spotlight or the screen; it's to help them build character, resilience, and life skills to thrive anywhere.
Join us on Saturday, August 1st at the Hopkins Center for the Arts for a special one-night-only alumni reunion concert. STC alumni are taking the stage where their stories began—celebrating our history, supporting our future, and opening doors for the next generation.
Everyone is invited! Your ticket is a donation to fuel our Next Generation Campaign - expanding mentorship, technology, and access for local youth.
Reserve your seat and donate today!

This one-night-only concert features STC alumni performers returning to the stage where their journeys began. It’s a reunion, a celebration of impact, and a look toward our future.
