Minneapolis Moline was a major employer in Hopkins, MN when its headquarters and one of its factories were here from 1929 until 1972. The same can be said for the Minneapolis Threshing Machine (MTM) Company, which came to Hopkins in 1887 and continued strong until 1929, when it became part of the merger that created Minneapolis Moline. A cursory look at our Hopkins phone directories from those years suggest that at least 25% of the households in Hopkins had a resident employed at Minneapolis Moline. Here is a link to an article about Minneapolis Moline in MINNPost.

Born from a 1929 merger, Minneapolis-Moline became one of the nation’s largest farm equipment companies and a major Minneapolis employer.
