Darla Williamson's Tangled Stones Studio

Darla Williamson's Tangled Stones Studio Tangled Stones is Darla Williamson, a mixed media artist who offers Zentangle and other art classes online on a regular basis. She also creates and sells art.

After almost 20 years climbing the corporate ladder, I jumped off to dive into all the art things I'm passionate about - clay, mixed media, and Zentangle® - which is what brought me to this wonderful place! After learning about Zentangle, the artistic side of me awakened, and I knew I wanted to share that magic with others! I am a Certified Zentangle Teacher and hope you can join me to learn all about it! I also love working with clay to hand build pieces with a lot of texture. I sell them too!

2026 Inspirational Word of the Year! Drumroll 🥁 please… I finally found it - INTENTIONAL! It’s a reminder to me to put more thought and intention on my decisions and actions - all across the board. Now just to find a spot to hang it where I will see it every day!! What words have you selected? Or are you still searching?

Word of the Year - here are a few of my past words. It really only matters what the word (or phrase) means to you. I had a really crazy, busy year with classes, pottery, art, and trying to add even more so I really needed to get a lot done in the new year. So my first word was Accelerate. And, while it was what I needed to do, it didn’t really resonate with me. It definitely didn’t inspire me. So a couple of months in, I decided I needed to find a new word. I have a very deep corporate background so I was trying to think of something that meant “Focus and Execute.” So I decided to use that because it did inspire me. I remember someone came into the studio and to me I shouldn’t use that because “execute” is a very negative word. I was taken aback, but explained it wasn’t a negative word to me and it was MY inspiration. So if juju bean inspires whatever you want more of in 2026, then use it. (I’m still narrowing down my word!)

In the holiday Spirit! I’m ready for some shopping and food at the Cullman Chriskindle market with friends a couple of weeks ago. What a fun time!! We went to the first one four years ago and it’s amazing how much they’ve grown. Well done Cullman! Also a few pics of our tree and a repost of proud Jasper in front of the tree! I hope you are enjoying your Christmas and holiday prep this year. ❤️🎄🎄

Connection - my inspirational word this year was CONNECTION. When I chose it, I was thinking about connections in a lot of different ways. And picking a word isn’t magic. It doesn’t make things happen out of nothing. Selecting an inspirational word, is that it’s an inspiration for the year. It’s a guiding word. I like to make a drawing of my word and have it someplace where I see it every day so that it stays in the front of my mind. If you’re aware of what you’re looking to get more of, than you are more active in selecting things that will help you achieve that. A big bonus for 2025 for me was connecting with a lot of my closest friends and spending quality time with them. I spent time with a couple of my besties in Wisconsin. It was my first trip there, I stopped at the welcome center and they were fabulous! They welcomed me with cheese, always a bonus, and gave me beautiful guide books to each area I planned to visit. Also, Wisconsin welcomed me the first night with a beautiful display of the aurora borealis. It was in September, so early for the lights. I had all kinds of adventures and fell in love with Wisconsin. Cherish the times that you get to connect with close friends and family. It’s fun looking back at my favorite photos from this year. It reminds me of those times! I’m still working on the word for 2026, I’m not there yet, but I think I’m narrowing it down!
