Individuals of all ages and abilities are invited to the fifth annual Lucas Developmental Disabilities, 1155 Larc Lane, Toledo for Trunk or Treat, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the board's headquarters. There will be 40 trunks presented by staff, families, providers, and local businesse. They will be lined up and ready dish out treats to hundreds of trick-or-treaters .

Just a reminder. The Lee R. Irons Historical Center will be open on Saturday, Oct 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is not open on Thursday. This month's exhibit is from the Holland Police Department.

The Ohio Air National Guard’s 180th Fighter Wing is conducting nighttime training flights through Oct. 15, weather permitting. Area residents may see or hear F-16 fighter jets, including the use of flares, taking off and landing as late as 10 p.m.
Training flights normally take place during daylight hours, but F-16 pilots and maintenance personnel are required to conduct night operations as part of their overall readiness training. T

The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal train/car crash that cash occurred at 11:58 p.m., Oct.11, on
Albon Road near State Route 2 in Springfield Township.
A 2023 Ford Maverick, driven by Michael Jones, 57, of Monclova, Ohio, was southbound on Albon. A westbound train struck by Mr. Jones.
His vehicle overturned on the west side of the road, and he was pronounced deceased on scene. No one on the train was injured.
Mr. Jones was not wearing a seat belt, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
The highway patrol was assisted at the scene by the Lucas County sheriff’s office, Holland Police Department, and Springfield Township Fire Department. The
roadway was closed for 5 hours.
The crash remains under investigation

Due to a sudden unexpected issue, the Lee Irons HIstorical Center will only be open from 10 a.m. until noon today. Regular 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. hours will resume on October 8.

The Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District has several
events coming up to round out a year full of programs. They are:
•October 15–Vermicomposting 101 Class at the office starting at
5:30 p.m.. Registered participants will learn about composting, how to compost using worms, and leave with a vermicomposting tub and starter pack of worms to take home. The class is $50 per
participant, and space is limited. Register at LucasSWCD.org/vermicomposting.
•October 27–As part of International Bat Week, Lucas SWCD in partnership with Inspired Lumber Workshop is hosting a Build a Bat House workshop from 5:30-8:30 PM. Participants will learn

•November 5–Lucas SWCD's 62nd annual meeting will be held at Lott Industries in Toledo. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m.. Tickets can be purchased online at

•November 12–Lucas SWCD invites families to the office for a Seed Bombs and Pollinators class. Participants will learn about the power of pollinators through fun, interactive activities, and get to make a native seed bomb to take home and plant!
