The single-lane roundabout improvement project set for U.S. 20A and Albon Road in Monclova Township has been postponed to the 2027 construction season due to delays associated with utility relocation work. This comes after weeks of talks among contractors, utilities and township officials on whether a construction schedule could be met that resulted in the safe, timely completion of the project before the end of the season.
This was one of five roundabouts projects scheduled for this season.
Work crews will still perform some work this season for the project, which includes installing a new storm sewer outlet on the east side of Albon , south of U.S. 20A, in mid to
late October. This work will not require a closure but rather will be completed with lane restrictions.
The Monclova and Albon roundabout is now open. The Monclova and Wilkins roads roundabout will be completed in August. Construction on the Monclova and Waterville Monclova roundabout began August 3 and is expected to be completed by early September, while Archbold Whitehouse and Providence Neapolis Swanton roads will begin roundabout construction in September expected completion by late October.
The U.S. 20A and Albon project will join two other roundabouts planned for construction in 2027, Angola Road East and Crissey Road in Springfield Township and Sylvania Avenue and Herr
Road in Sylvania Township.
