Additional funding available for headstones/grave markers. Do you have a deceased ancestor whose headstone is weathered, damaged or missing? The Akwesasne Community Fund has provided funding to purchase a limited number of headstones. Please submit a request to [email protected] with your name and contact information; deceased's name, birthdate, death date and name of local cemetery. You must know exactly where the stone is to be placed. Family members will be asked to assist with the placement of the headstones.

The annual Heritage Fair has been scheduled for Friday, February 27, 2026 at the Community Services Building, 850 State Route 37 across from the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The theme is "Fire and Ice: Akwesasne in the Late 19th Century" with special recognition of Mohawk brothers John and Jake Saiowisakeron who played significant roles in an important historical event in the community.

The schedule is pending. We welcome interest from genealogy groups and historians to provide informational tables and speakers.
