🚜☀️ Tractor Parade Weekend Recap ☀️🚜

We were happy to welcome the Annual Tractor Parade back to the Colonel Ebenezer Hinsdale House this weekend for its lunchtime stop. It was great to see so many tractors lined up on the property and so many people gathered together enjoying the afternoon.

Thank you to everyone who participated, helped organize the event, contributed to lunch for the participants and made the day such a success. We always enjoy being part of this community tradition and appreciate all the work that goes into making it happen each year.

Here are a few photos from the stop at the Hinsdale House! 📸

Get ready for Hinsdale’s Annual Tractor Parade! The parade will be rolling through town this Saturday, May 16th, with a rain date of Sunday, May 17th.

Tractors will follow the same route as years past, making their way from Butler Ave to downtown and up Main St. After lunch, they will head out on 119 toward North Hinsdale, up Monument Rd to Plain Rd, and back to Butler Ave. We’d love to see everyone come out along the route or head downtown to watch the lineup on Main Street.

For participants: please plan to be at Fisher Farm by 9:30 AM, with the parade stepping off at 10:30 AM.

Good viewing spots include downtown Main Street, the intersection of Main & High Street, and River Road by the railroad bed.

If you'd like to participate, please connect with Kenny Howe.

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for our Annual Meeting and the “Women of ’76” program. We had a great turnout for an afternoon that was both informative and entertaining, highlighting the stories of 5 women during the American Revolution.

A special thank you to Waterfall Productions & Rita Parisi for her engaging and memorable presentation, and to our volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly.

We appreciate everyone who came out to take part in the meeting and continue exploring this important chapter in history with us.

📰 Throwback to 1961!

Take a look at this ad from the very first edition of the Brattleboro Town Crier, dated August 31, 1961 - featuring homes for sale right here in Hinsdale.

Today, that same neighborhood is a familiar part of town—home to many families, close to the schools, and a favorite destination for Halloween trick-or-treating each year. It’s hard to imagine a time when it was just getting started.

A big thank you to David Ward for sharing this great piece of local history with us. We love seeing these glimpses into the past and how Hinsdale has grown and changed over the years!

As we get closer to our New Year’s Day Ice Festival, our volunteers have been busy prepping the skating area and cutting ice blocks to make sure everything is ready to welcome the community.

Their dedication and willingness to brave the winter weather are helping bring a new event to life here in Hinsdale. We are incredibly grateful to everyone lending a hand behind the scenes to make this event possible.

🌲 ❄️ Season’s greetings! ❄️🌲

This week the Board of Directors of the Hinsdale Historical Society decided to hold a Winter Festival on January 1st, from 11 AM to 3 PM.

We will be hosting a skating party on the riverfront of the west field. There is a small boat ramp there and the water is very shallow between the launch and Monkey Island. The ice is already 4 – 6 inches thick.

Bring your ice skates or snowshoes as our new River Walk trail is open and usable!

We will have a small fire pit set up and some ice blocks for fort building. Hot chocolate and marshmallows for roasting will be available to participants.

We are actively looking for folks that have antique snowmobiles that might like to display them.

If anyone has extra ice skates or snowshoes that they are willing to share it would be greatly appreciated.

Come and celebrate the beginning of the 250th Anniversary year of our country.
