The museum offers quality educational and family-oriented play centers and programs for children through age twelve. We believe that children learn about love, trust, and self-worth through interactive play with a parent or caregiver. Families need spaces in which to foster relationships with one another and other families, thereby forming community. Play provides a natural opportunity for these r

elationships to form and strengthen. We provide a stimulating, progressive setting for children and their caregivers to play and learn together. Located at the new Lowcountry Celebration Park on the south end of Hilton Head Island.

One of our favorite things to see at The Sandbox is grown-ups joining in the fun! Whether it's putting on a costume, stepping into an imaginary role, or simply being a little silly, those moments create memories that last far longer than the visit itself.

When adults play alongside children, they're sending a powerful message: it's okay to use your imagination, be creative, laugh, and have fun. Children learn that play isn't something we outgrow—it's something we carry with us throughout our lives.

So go ahead and embrace the moment. Whether you're a pirate, a princess, a firefighter, or something entirely your own, there's always room for a little imagination and family fun at The Sandbox. ❤️

Some moments remind us just how special this place truly is. ❤️

Yesterday, we had the joy of celebrating a birthday for one of our favorite museum friends, Iris. Along with her brother Clark and their wonderful nanny Sandra, they have become such a cherished part of The Sandbox family. Their laughter, curiosity, and kind hearts brighten our days week after week.

To make the celebration even sweeter, Iris's mom treated our staff to a delicious lunch, and our team surprised Iris with a Belle dress she had been dreaming about for so long. Seeing the smile on her face was a moment we won't soon forget.

At The Sandbox, we're so grateful for the relationships that grow within these walls. While children come here to learn through play, it's the connections, memories, and sense of community that make this place truly magical.

Happy Birthday, Iris! Thank you for letting us be a small part of your special day. 💛✨

🚀🔬🤖🧁 What an amazing week of STEM Camp for our 7–10 year olds!

From coding Sphero robots and creating stop-motion animations to exploring the microscopic world with microscopes, learning the basics of entrepreneurship, and baking cupcakes from scratch, our campers stayed busy learning, creating, and having fun.

Every day was filled with laughter, discovery, and hands-on experiences that encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Thank you to our wonderful campers for making this such a memorable week—we had a blast! 💙✨

🤖✨ Camp Week Has Begun! ✨🤖

Our 7–10-year-old campers kicked off the week by learning to code Sphero robots! After practicing basic commands, they designed mazes and programmed their robots to navigate through them. It was a fun, hands-on way to build problem-solving and coding skills.

We're excited for the rest of the week!

👩‍🍳🧁 Today our campers became Mini Chefs!

From measuring ingredients and mixing batter to creating colorful icing and decorating monster cupcakes, our young bakers learned that cooking is part science, part creativity, and all fun. Add in some flour-covered faces, lots of laughter, and sweet memories, and it was the perfect camp day!

What a colorful start to Summer Camp! 🎭🌈

Today, campers explored the art of puppetry, learning how movement, voice, and imagination can bring a character to life. They created their own puppet characters and discovered how storytelling helps us express creativity and build confidence.

We also got a little messy while tie-dyeing our camp shirts, experimenting with color, patterns, and design to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces.

From creative expression to hands-on learning, Day 1 was filled with imagination, laughter, and fun. Take a look at some of our favorite moments!
