Thank you to everyone who came out to the Hillsboro Cemetery tonight for our annual Ghost Walk! 👻

The weather was perfect 🍂 and we hope you all ✨️learned✨️ a thing or two from our ✨️spirited✨️ guests.

👨‍🏫 We're happy to report that none of our former educators gave anyone in the audience detention 😉

If you'd like to learn more about education in Highland County, we have two books written by local author Tara Beery available in our Gift Shop ($20 each + tax).

🚨 NOTICE TO THE MEMBERSHIP 🚨

The Historical Society will hold their Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 7:00pm at the Highland House Museum at 151 East Main Street in Hillsboro.

Trustees will be elected and a presentation of proposed changes in by-laws will be discussed.

Your attendance and participation are encouraged.

📅 Join us next Saturday, September 19, from 5 to 7 pm for our annual Log Cabin Cookout!

🌭 Menu includes ham & soup beans, cornbread muffins, hot dogs/coney dogs, cookies/brownies, and drinks. Meal is by donation.

🥧 Dessert Auction will follow dinner.

🏡 Seating will be outside, between the Highland House Museum and the Log Cabin.

This photo is a few years old, but when Grace & Beauty Salon (formally Appearances) needed some new wood on the front of the building, an old Litts sign was revealed!
