๐Ÿ“ธ Check out these amazing photos from Highland County's America 250 Celebration Historical Character Presentation taken by Shelby Leigh Photography!

๐Ÿฅต It sure was a hot day and we truly appreciate the dedication of the speakers to wear period clothing, especially long-sleeves and all black!

The characters presented were, in no certain order:

โšพ๏ธ Hugh Fullerton, a well-known sports writer
โš–๏ธ David Hayes, Founder of Hillsboro and served as Clerk of Courts
๐Ÿพ Eliza Jane Thompson (Mother Thompson), leader of the Women's Christian Temperance Union
๐ŸŽ– Joseph Moler, a Revolutionary War soldier
โœ’๏ธ Abigail Adams, influential woman of the Revolutionary period and future First Lady
๐Ÿชฆ Casper Wever Collins, served in the U.S. Army

Ladies and gentlemen, Paul Edward Turnerโ€™s story begins in 1931 in New Vienna, but his lifeโ€™s work would become inseparably tied to a place just a few miles away โ€” the historic Gist Settlement in Penn Township.

How wonderful was that performance by American Musical Productions?! The time and dedication that they had put into preparing for tonight definitely showed.

How many of the tunes did you recognize? There were certainly quite a few that had us tapping our feet along to the beat.

The musical selections came straight from the archives of the Hillsboro Military Band. We thought it was especially cool when it was said that our Hillsboro ancestors sat in that very location and listened to the exact same music.

Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed the show! We are so happy that we were able to sponsor the performance for Highland County's America 250 Celebration.

๐Ÿ”” Let's get the celebration started!

Thank you to John W., Ben F., and Brad M. for ringing the bell in front of the Highland House Museum.

We must admit, we rang it for a little more than 25 seconds, but it's just so much fun! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now we're off to join in on the festivities with the Highland County's America 250 Celebration. Don't forget the Museum will be open today 1 to 6 pm and the American Musical Productions 1907 Hillsboro Military Band performance at 7 pm uptown!
