The FLIP Museum

The FLIP Museum Fun, Learning, Inspiration, and Play - Children's Museums for the Portland Metro Area. First Location Now Open in Downtown Hillsboro.

Portland Location Coming Next! FLIP is a children’s museum that brings kids and families together to learn and connect with one another through play. The FLIP Museum will create an innovative and inclusive space for diverse communities to foster meaningful connections and advance equity in learning for children. The FLIP Museum is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization (Tax ID: 87-3605707). Our g

overning board is a team of local community advocates who care deeply about equitable learning opportunities for children and families in our community. Donate today at FLIPMuseum.org! Play is how children learn and develop into happy, healthy members of the community. Research in early childhood development has shown the positive impact of play for years. Encouragingly, some schools in the Greater Portland Metropolitan Area are beginning to integrate more play-based learning into their curriculum. But schools can’t fix our play deficit alone – and they aren’t the only ones playing a critical role in the development of our children. FLIP imagines a children’s museum that is adaptable in its delivery and inclusive in its reach. We recognize the need for locations that are equitably accessible. We aim to build an experience that captures the heart of our community and that is relevant and sustainable for future generations.

We are finishing our spaceship this week, adding a variety of visual experiences to inspire play. Make sure to come back once everything is ready on 9/11 or soon after!

Even timeouts are fun at FLIP - if you are sent to the scream room that is.

Our Scream Room is up and running. There are minor enhancements planned before our grand opening on 9/11, but we couldn’t wait to share. This is so dang fun!

This is going to be freakin’ awesome. Thanks to a grant from the Niemeyer Foundation via the Oregon Community Foundation, our revolving sushi restaurant exhibit is nearly ready. You have to come back on 9/11 or soon after to check it out. Brandon Lastomirsky and 333 Custom Fabrication do amazing work, but this one takes the fish-flavored cake.

Get your tickets at FLIPmuseum.org/night-out before we sell out. If you get them after we sell out, then you must have some kind of savvy counterfeiting operation going on - and that’s just not the kind of learning we can support here at FLIP.

We have a bunch of big changes coming to FLIP, including upgrades to our Spaceship Exhibit. It will be a much more interactive and sensory-pleasing experience!

One of the big changes coming in September is a reimagined spaceship exhibit. We’re making it much more interactive, adding a great sensory experience. Excuse the intermittent closures before 9/11 as we prepare everything for MAXIMUM FUN!

We are preparing for a big upgrade at the museum on 9/11. Keep an eye on our website for closures before then, as we have a lot of big changes in the works. Thank you to the fine folks at the Japanese American Museum of OR helping curated the educational components to go along with go with our Revolving Sushi Restaurant and Green Screen Farming experience. And of course you should try to visit on 9/11, 9:30-12:00 for the FREE ribbon cutting ceremony with Rep. Watanabe and others.

Jack here, founder of FLIP. My family finally made it to Imagine Children’s Museum | Everett WA in Everett, WA and we were not disappointed. This massive children’s museum has a little bit of - scratch that - a lot a bit of everything. It even had a rooftop play area. If you ever make it that far north, carve out at least 2 hours to enjoy this place. My 8 year old approves this message.
