So -in the Art Quilt Alliance group that I belong to -we had a pennant project challenge. You could use whatever medium you wanted to create no more than 3 pennants. So I thought that I would create a pennant for each of the 3 most amazing women in my life- my mother, my grandmother, my great-grandmother. I thought about who they were; how they lived; what they did; and how they were successful. The first one I thought about was Beulah Mae Harris King, she was my great-grandmother. She became s widow at a very young age and had 9 children to feed and clothe after my great granmpa- a truck driver died of a heart attack at the age of 50. She was the woman that made all the amazing clothing for her nine children that are on "Beulah Mae's love". This quilt got a whole lot of attention at a national quilt show and was featured on the back cover of a national magazine. Then there was Annie Louise Whittekin. She was my grandma and she was amazing. My best best friend; my biggest cheerleader ; full of encouragement; full of fun; full of love! She was the one that enrolled me in sewing lessons one summer- which started me down a wonderful path! And then my Mom- Judith Anne Sellers. My mom; my best friend; my biggest ally. We could talk about anything and everything. We traveled a big part of the world together. We laughed together. We cried together. She was so excited when Ryan was born. She was excited for him and excited for me. I can't even imagine how much worry I put her through but she was tough, loving, kind. She was incredibly smart and wise- although she never believed it. These women were three amazing gifts that God put in my life and I could not be more grateful! Thank you Lord.
