This is not your average museum with glass cases. At the Hesston Steam Museum you step back into a time when steam was king. The collection includes as 1900 vintage saw mill, 67 ton Shay Logging Locomotive, an electric generator, 92 ton railroad steam crane, traction engines, scale steam trains and much more, all steam powered.

FREE ticket offer: We are looking for imaginative volunteers that love classic Halloween to join our Hesston Ghost Train Team.

Come to our Ghost Train team meeting on Saturday October 24th at 9:00 AM Central Time. This can be in person at the museum or virtual. The meeting is planned for 45 mins.

You will receive a HGT ticket for you and a guest that you can use on the 24th or 25th. Time commitments for this committee are two weekend days in September 2027, which will be set in advance, with options to be part of the Hesston Ghost Train operational team! - Message us with your email to receive a meeting invite.

Our experience will remain a daytime, classic, funny Halloween event which is appropriate for kids, but appeals to people of all ages. We want to hear your ideas to make the Hesston Ghost Train better than ever! Artists and hobby set builders are especially needed.

The Hesston Ghost Train steams again this weekend taking tours through the haunted woods Saturday and Sunday noon to 5:00 Central.

Our steam sawmill, blacksmith shop and Steamworks museum gallery will also be in operation.

Delicious lunch and Ice Cream at Doc’s Soda Fountain just steps away from the action.

The Hesston Ghost Train is frightening fun for everyone and appropriate for small children. Trains depart for the Haunted Woods at frequent intervals no timed departures are available.

We're sorry to inform you that today's planned operations are canceled due to lightning and strong rains, which appear to be consistent through 2:00 pm Central. We can not operate in lighting nor will this give our crew enough time to safely prepare for the day's operations.

Instead, we will be holding an orientation for new volunteers and our crew will be spending time in the shops working on maintenance and restorations.

We hope that you will visit us next Saturday, September 26th, or during our Ghost Train experience in October.
