From 1958 to the 1960s, the Hershey Hill Climb was the crown jewel of Pennsylvania Hill Climb Association Events. The Appalachian Sport Car Club staged it on the picturesque Hotel Hershey’s “old back road.” Speaker Ron Mann will discuss the history of hill climb racing in Pennsylvania, featuring film from Hershey Hill Climb events and artifacts.

The program is free. Donations to the museum are much appreciated. 🙏

“Derry Before Hershey: From Pioneers to Chocolate”. Read about the early settlers who founded Derry Church, and the small communities that developed and thrived in the township long before Mr. Hershey built the chocolate factory and his model town called Hershey.

Get ready to board! We’re excited to invite you to a family-friendly event at the Hershey History Center on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Get ready for a day of interactive model trains! Explore various and unique layouts, and meet the railroaders who brought them to life.

Enjoy live entertainment from the talented duo, Still Limber. 🪕

Food trucks will be there, with Cubby's Ice Cream Café on Saturday and Sunday, Second Breakfast on Saturday, and Dugout Eatz on Sunday. Kids can get creative with crafts, and you can even ride a self-propelled crank car. Plus, learn about rail safety.

We’re partnering with model railroaders from Capital PenNScalers NTRAK, Lebanon Valley Rail, Lower Susquehanna Valley Modular Railroaders, and Pennsylvania Operation Lifesaver Inc.., so Trains at the Tracks is sure to be a fun-filled family event.

Stay Apparel Co. will host Makers @ the Museum on Sunday, October 18 from 11:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Explore twenty artisans and crafters booths on the front lawn!

Flashback Friday to 1918. 🏒🥅 This is the Billiken Hockey Team of Grand Mere, Quebec, Canada. It includes a snapshot of a young player who was to became a very well known figure in Hershey hockey. Lloyd Blinco.

Lloyd Blinco played on the team in the very first years of ice hockey in Hershey. He was on the EAHL (Eastern Amateur Hockey League) Championship team of 1935-36 in Hershey. In 1938 the Hershey team joined the American Hockey League. As all fans are well aware, the Bears are the oldest continuous affiliate of the league. Lloyd Blinco became the General Manager of the hockey team and worked for Hershey Estates until his retirement.

A quilt is like a storyteller, 🪡🧵weaving together fabric, color, symbols, and stitches to share our own memories, the rich histories of our cultures, and the important messages we want to pass along.

Stop by the Hershey History Center to see two historic quilts on display.

🔸Mariner’s Compass Quilt Circa 1795. This quilt was the property of Grace Charles Ankweney’s Grandmother who brought it here from Switzerland. It was donated by Madalena Heber Hershey, wife of Reverend J B Hershey.
A Mariner’s Compass quilt is a quilt pattern built around a bold star or compass-like design, usually with triangular sections radiating from the center.

🔸Patchwork Crazy Quilt from Village of Derry Church 1899. The center patch reads: Made by Grandma Wenger for Chas Behney.
A patchwork crazy quilt is a quilt made from many different fabric pieces sewn together in an irregular, non-matching way.
Unlike a traditional quilt with repeating patterns and neat blocks, a crazy quilt:
* uses scraps of different shapes, sizes, and colors
* often looks intentionally random
* may include decorative stitching, embroidery, lace, ribbons, or buttons
