These pages are from a newspaper scrapbook that was assembled by an unknown Tucker employee between January 1946 and December 1955. Its creator clipped, dated, arranged and glued articles to the backside of miscellaneous Tucker Corporation documents. Several pages contain handwritten notes about Board of Directors meetings, business exchanges, and correspondence between personnel, which suggest that this scrapbook may have been put together while the maker was at work. This scrapbook also includes a number of loose clippings that post-date the Tucker Corporation. Two similar newspaper scrapbooks can be seen in the Cammack Tucker Gallery display cases.

This pencil drawing for a Tucker Circular Medallion was submitted on February 3, 1948 and features the Tucker Company’s iconic coat of arms. Tucker incorporated the circular design into the horn button on the steering wheel while an oval variant of the medallion went onto the hub caps and rear engine cover of the Tucker ’48.

Did you know that Preston Tucker designed a clothes rack for the Tucker ’48? A vertical rod was secured to the top and bottom of the rear window frame and had a folding rack bar that held up to six hangers. Although this accessory never made it to production, the patent demonstrates Tucker’s dedication to designing a car to meet his customers’ needs and lifestyles.
