Congratulations on your great performance in the 2026 Herndon Ox-Roast Scavenger Hunt! It took teamwork, and energy to make this first Scavenger Hunt such a fun tradition. Thanks to all the teams participating and accomplishments. The staff, board and Smokey Bear would like to thank Rachel Grafel for her hard work and donation to the museum. Thank You for a Wonderful Ox‑Roast 2026

Ox‑Roast 2026 is officially in the books, and what a fantastic day it was. Our museum was filled wall‑to‑wall with history lovers of all ages, and the energy was incredible. From the parade all the way through the afternoon, families lined up to pose with Smokey Bear until 4:00, adding a little extra fun to an already memorable event.

A heartfelt thank‑you goes to the Ox‑Roast Committee for their ingenuity and dedication in planning a day that was both fun and safe for everyone. Your hard work showed in every detail.

The museum‑sponsored Scavenger Hunt was a hit with family teams, bringing a new sense of adventure to the day — many thanks to Rachel Grafel for making it happen.

We’ll be sharing more details, along with photos, very soon. In the meantime, we invite you to come back and spend a little time exploring the many donated items that make our museum one of the neatest and coolest places to stop in.

Thank you again for your support, your enthusiasm, and your presence. You helped make this year’s Ox‑Roast one to remember.

Crunch time for reservations for the alumni banquet. Deadline is Sunday, June 7th so caterer can prepare! Be sure to call 785-322-5219 with any questions, just leave a message if my phone is not with me.....which happens frequently anymore! All visitors to Herndon be sure to enjoy the parade, museum, games, scavenger hunt and all the festivities of the weekend. So many are working hard to make it fun and safe. The days are flying by so get that reservation called in and make those plans to attend the Herndon Alumni Banquet on Friday, June 12th, 6 o'clock at the Herndon High School. It will be a fun evening to welcome in the Herndon Ox-Roast the next day. These smiling faces are a bit older now but still causing trouble! Call 785-322-5219 for any questions or leave a message. Reservations are to be made by Sunday, June 7th.

These days seem so crazy but such fun! It's so exciting to be getting Alumni reservations from guys/gals that I keep thinking are in their early 30's and they come to celebrate 60 years since graduation! YIKES, how can that be? We do thank all of you that plan on coming to the banquet and spending all day at the Ox-Roast. The years do fly by so, enjoy the weekend, take time to visit with old friends and possibly make some new ones. Hope to see you soon! Our staff will be ready to greet you at the museum and Smokey Bear may have a treat for you also!
