Henniker is participating in the NH Historical Society's 603 History Hunt. Towns around the state have put artifacts on display for hunters to find (there are two in Henniker). The event goes through the month of July and prizes will be awarded! It's a great way to learn more about our state's Revolutionary War history!

Come join us at the Center Cemetery (behind town hall) on Sunday, June 14 at 1:00 pm to put flags on the graves of our Revolutionary War Veterans to honor them on the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. We will also be placing flags at the Depot Hill cemetery and the Plummer Cemetery (corner of Plummer Hill and River Rd). Special thanks to Henniker's American Legion Post 81 for their generous donation of the flags.

Don't forget to stop by the Tucker Free Library for your chance to add your name to the Declaration of Independence! This is a great opportunity to sign the document that will become part of HHS's permanent 250th celebration collection and make you a permanent part of our town's history!

Greetings, Henniker!
This year, our nation marks an extraordinary milestone, 250 years of independence.
Henniker is celebrating in a way that invites every one of us to step directly into history. The
Henniker Historical Society, together with passionate members of our community, has
crafted a series of special events for this year, each one honoring the spirit, courage, and
legacy of the people who shaped our town and our country. But among these celebrations,
one experience stands out as truly unforgettable.
In the east wing of the Tucker Free Library, a stunning replica of the Declaration of
Independence awaits you. More than a display, it’s an invitation. Sit at the historic-style
desk, take up the quill and ink, and add your name to the Declaration, just as the founders
did two and a half centuries ago. It’s a rare chance to feel the weight of history, to imagine
the bravery of those original signers, and to leave your own mark on a document that will be
preserved for generations.
Your signature won’t simply fade into the past. The Henniker Historical Society will archive
this commemorative Declaration and proudly display it at future celebrations, allowing
descendants and community members to discover the names of those who stood here in
2026. It’s a living connection between our past, present, and future.
This remarkable exhibit runs from June 1 to August 2, 2026. Don’t miss your chance to be
part of Henniker’s story. So, sign boldly and help carry our shared history forward.
