We are so appreciative of everyone that came out yesterday evening to help us celebrate HAHS’s 50th anniversary! We had many first-time visitors to the museum and most everyone took the opportunity to tour the beautiful McLeod House. The staff at Deakle-Johnson law firm were especially great hosts and we can’t thank them enough!

Thank you so much to all of you who have liked our page in recent days! This is the first time ever that HAHS has had a social media presence so, please, bear with us as we continue to develop our page and make it as useful and informative as it can be.

We know, you have all the questions! Who are we and why have we been keeping our great museum a secret? Well, HAHS has been in existence since 1970, exclusively operated by volunteers and supported almost entirely by our membership. We have enjoyed many visitors through the years and one of our top priorities going forward is to be more available and engaged with the community!

HAHS is a true local historical society and our carefully curated museum features rotating exhibits that highlight the rich history and culture found in the Hattiesburg area. What else do we have to offer? In addition to the museum, we maintain a collection that includes thousands of photos, documents, books and artifacts – all donated by our members and friends. We also publish a quarterly newsletter which features fascinating historical profiles and highlights recent additions to our collection.

The HAHS museum and offices are located on the first floor of the Hattiesburg Cultural Center (formerly the Hattiesburg Public Library) at 723 Main St. in historic Downtown Hattiesburg. The museum is open* during our regular office hours (see the “About” section) or by appointment. Rather not come in person? No problem, you may also view our virtual tours by visiting www.hahsmuseum.org.

We cordially invite you to check us out and learn more about Hattiesburg history and the HAHS!

*Please note: Current Covid-19 safety precautions require all visitors to wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines. We are also making a special effort to clean and sanitize public spaces on a daily basis.
