117th IR, 30th Div. & Camp Hastings members & friends,

All I know,
Hearts have been broken … :( There have been some private family related gatherings relating to Dan. If I hear of anything we all should know & that are open to the rest of us, I will share it. There are a few, who I have been talking with (who are much closer to the situation than I) and when I hear something from them that they are OK with me to pass along & you should know, I will share it. Right now, please respect & keep Dan's family & close friends in your thoughts & prayers as they walk through these very dark & difficult days. Make sure to hug & appreciate your family & friends, things can change so quickly.
No matter how dark & hopeless life may seem … There is always the hope of a new day in Yeshusa (Jesus) he is real hope. Suicide is never the solution, or the end to pain & hopelessness you may think that it is. Please ask for help. No matter the differences some of us may have at times, you are still loved and cared about.

I have been told these were built as temporary Buildings/ barracks. These are different than the 700 series barracks, simpler design, different interior floor plan inside. Entry-exit doors were moved to the end walls. As found on Ft. McCoy, Wi. and many other WW II Posts, Camps & Forts.

Pyramidal tent frames converted to 16 x 16 huts OR Victory huts on a camp/ base to house personnel working on the secret A-Bomb. Note Large screen windows (no glass - just screen) covered by a wood shutter that were to be propped open via 2 wood arms. These particular huts appear to have used Plywood as covering.

Are you a Minnesota Veteran who has been impacted by COVID-19? Minnesota is committed to taking care of those who have served our country. Minnesota’s COVID-19 Emergency Response package includes $6.2 million to support Minnesota Veterans. If you or a dependent have been financially impacted by COVID-19, you may be eligible for a Minnesota Veteran Disaster Relief Grant or a Minnesota Veteran Special Needs Grant. Applications will be accepted starting Monday, April 6. For more information or to apply, contact your local County Veterans Service Officer or visit MinnesotaVeteran.org/COVIDRelief.
To the Veterans in the group/unit, or any Veterans that like this great page!, don’t just go to the VA, call first! Also, the MN Department of Veterans Affairs, will have grants coming soon to help Veterans going through financial hardship due to the COVID. Stand by to stand by for more info. Contact me if you have any questions. I’m here to help all my fellow Veterans.
Should I bring some wine... or am I even allowed to show my presence..?
OK here we go again all hands on deck for July 9 Tuesday 5PM we are going to do a little painting , and put everything back in to Quanset hut number one. Pizza party to follow and information on Lakeville. We had a great turn out last time nobody will be told not to come, that was my fault.
Camp Hastings just got a new floor in Quansett hut number one.
Marines! I just received a call from Don Patrick. He's ok but back on Aug 24th, he started having slurred speech and had a very minor stroke. Karen took him to the ER, did some tests and he had a few small brain bleeds. Again, he's ok. Just sounds tired. He's currently at: Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington 9889 Penn Ave S Room 223 952-887-1467 His stay may be short time. He hopes to go home this Wednesday, 9/12. He will let me know his progress with rehab and I will pass along any word. Tony
We all know this sound!!!!! 😁😄😁😄
Kudos to the intrepid Quonset Hut experts in Minnesota! Finding this post and seeking the guidance from Harold was a godsend with my Quonset Hut adventure. Thank you Harold for the copy of the original Strand Steel Corp. assembly manual. Without that this project would have been a nightmare. I will keep you posted as we progress. David Groh PS: AND! If it wasn’t for Lee Larson it would have been harder to track y’all down.
It's down. All the support steel has to be picked up TOMORROW (Monday, 8-14). Bulldozers are waiting...
Today's progress. We could really use a couple of extra bodies tomorrow (Sunday)!!
Whoops, bad timing for power trouble!
Just in case the people bringing in all the new earth-moving equipment get a little rambunctious...
