Congratulations And thanks to you and Donna for always supporting the museum.

Tullio Marcangeli, Scale Clerk at our Hartshorne Quarry, recently celebrated 50 years with
Dolese. He’s been a beloved and well-known fixture both in our plant and in our community
and says the best part of his job is the people he’s met.

“I’m the Will Rogers of Dolese. I never met a Dolese person I didn’t like,” he said.

He has no plans of retiring any time soon, and we’re glad he’s around. Congratulations, Tullio,
and thank you for your service!

UFO Over Hartshorne, Oklahoma
June 7, 1966

Researching UFO events in Oklahoma, we came across one that was investigated by the great Hayden Hewes and thought we would share it.

Mrs. Altaclaire Morgan (wife of Hartshorne’s postmaster at the time) and Mr. Arlie Freeman (who was serving as Chief of Police) were witness to a UFO event that would shake the small community of Hartshorne.

Mrs. Morgan described what she saw as a cigar-shaped object, 40-50 feet across with several flashing red lights. Called “red blinkers” at the time. The blinking lights on the cylindrical shaped object made it noticeable to a lot of people.

Dozens of citizens in Hartshorne reported the sighting. 104 residents of Hartshorne told investigator and journalist Hayden Hewes they witnessed strange objects that continued to return to the area during the event. As many as 42 people watched the event simultaneously.

On that same night other UFO events were reported in Texas and Colorado.

Mrs. Morgan said the craft traveled at treetop level. At one point she said, “I suddenly became panicky. I began running toward the UFO, which was hovering over the trees at about 500 feet from our home, hollering very loudly for someone to come see it with me.”

The area tested for radiation and according to Hewes, some areas registered more than 500 counts per minute compared to a normal reading of 18 to 20 counts.

Reports of earthquakes in Peru, Chili and North America were associated to the UFO event by experts in the field, but as Hewes reported, no real connection could be attributed to the earthquakes.

Pictured is Hayden Hewes getting first-hand information from Eddie Laxson shortly after the craft was seen over Highway 70.

Other UFO events were reported in Hartshorne on June 21st, 2013 and July 2nd, 2015. In 2015 a black triangle craft was reported near Hartshorne.
