Yesterday, 8/22, we had a popup event. Gloria Calhoun brought us her photo albums and book she authoured on the "Hartford IGA" which she and husband Emory operated from 1974 to 2006. Quite a few of former IGA employees stopped in the see and shared many wonderful memories. The albums will also be available to view on Sat., Aug 29th 1 to 4pm.

Gloria Calhoun has loaned to the Hartford Museum & Civil War Enlistment Center three albums chuck full of the story of the IGA in Hartford. So many wonderful photos, newspaper clipping of community events that they supported and Gloria's written account of their journey. This will only be available to view on Sat., 8/22 and Sat., 8/29 from 1 to 4 pm. or by appointment. Don't miss this walk down memory lane!

On Saturday, Aug 15th, the Hartford Historical Group honored Sarah Hall for her work to repaint our historical marker and for getting grant from the Pomeroy Foundation to fund a new marker honoring Isreal Harris as an early settlet, a soldier in the Revolutionary War and a first deacon for the South Hartford Congregational Church. A second award was made to recognize the efforts of Boy Scout Troop #40 thru projects like painting the Hartford Museum. But the big announcement of the day made by Dale LaPoint , President is the $50000 grant to fix the museum building foundation. The grant was secured by Assemblyman Matt Simpson. Thank you very much.

This picture shows the present day intersection of Hartford Main St and NYS Rte 149. At the time it was taken, this spot was simply labeled โ€œState Routes Junction.โ€
To the right of the utility poles would eventually become the site of Hartford Central School. To the left of the poles would become NYS Rte 40. History books tell us the house in the picture was moved in 1968.

What a great weekend at the Washington County History Festival. Who knew you could step back in time and talk to President Abraham Lincoln. General U. Grant and George Washington all in the same place. Kudos to all the volunteers who made the event a success

The Hartford Museum will be closed July 11th. We will be at the History Festival. Great family fun and its free. Live music all day, speakers, exhibitors from all towns and a reenactors in the encampment areas. Come meet President Abraham Lincoln and General Grant on Saturday
