Claiborne County Schools is proud to celebrate Nate Seals for his outstanding achievement!

Nate represented Claiborne High School at the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum as the winner of the Liberty’s Path Essay Contest, part of America’s Path to 250, a national commemoration of the founding of the United States.

His essay highlighted the life and legacy of Thomas Jefferson, exploring his early years, his role during the American Revolution, and his time as president.

We are incredibly proud of Nate for representing Claiborne County with excellence and sharing his passion for history.

We would like to congratulate MHS junior Autumn Adams on winning the America 250 “Liberty’s Path” Essay Contest. Her essay was selected among students in grades 9–12 from local schools and focused on what life was like in America during the early republic.

Autumn’s essay thoughtfully explored the tension between Thomas Jefferson’s “all men are created equal” writings and the reality that many early Americans were denied those unalienable rights, including women, enslaved people, and Native Americans.

She will have the honor of presenting her work at the Lincoln Memorial University America 250 celebration.

Congratulations, Autumn, on an outstanding achievement—we are proud of you!

Susan Parker, Programming Coordinator/Museum Educator, visited Clinch-Powell Head Start classrooms at TNT, Springdale, and Ellen Myers. Each child received a copy of the book, "Thank You, Sarah: The Woman Who Saved Thanksgiving," and created native corn with a beading craft.
