Due to some scheduling challenges, our museum will not be able to participate in the Huron County Museum Weekend this coming Saturday and Sunday September 25 and 26. We are disappointed we will not be able to see everyone, but look forward to hosting you all next season! Thank you for your continued interest and support!

Grice House Heritage Association Special Plea

Dear Friend of the Museum,
The board of directors would like to make you aware of the pressing need for additional funding. We thank our loyal annual members for their contributions to the museum up-keep and we thank the City of Harbor Beach for the ongoing funding through the Parks and Recreation budget. At this time, we have an expensive capital improvement that is needed to preserve the integrity of the Grice home.
A few years ago, we were able to replace the deteriorating upper level windows with custom made wooden windows constructed by an Amish builder. At this time, we realize the need to replace the lower level windows. The wood is too rotten in the current windows to take preservation through painting off the table as an option. We received an estimate for construction of 10 new windows from Miller's Construction on 2/19/19 in the amount of $10,250. In addition to the cost of constructing each window for $1025 there would be an additional estimated cost of $3200 for installation of all 10 windows.
We are looking for your help to pay for these replacement windows. The price to sponsor each window is set at $1300.00. As in the past, if you wish to sponsor a window in memory of someone or in your own honor, we will acknowledge you or your loved one with a small plaque attached to the window. We would like to have the work on this project completed in the winter months while the builder is available. If you can't afford the full cost of a window sponsorship, we will accept smaller donations earmarked for this window project. All donations are considered charitable for your tax filing.
Due to the overall cost of this project, we recognize it may need to be done over a span of years, so please keep the Grice House Heritage Association in your thoughts as you prepare for your charitable giving.

Come on out and visit us for Huron County Museum Weekend on September 28-29 from 11-4 FOR FREE!

We will be hosting special guest Rose Putnam, of the Thumb Quilt Trail. She will be speaking in the Pavilion on the Grice House Grounds at 1 PM on Saturday September 28.

We have begun to assemble the exhibits in the newly refurbished Pavilion, come out out and see our progress. The House and the Schoolhouse will also be open for free tours!

The Grice House is looking for You! If you have an interest in local history or need a great summer job, we need you to work as a tour guide this Spring and Summer. This is a part-time seasonal job paying $10.00 an hour. Our hours of operation are W-F 1 to 5, Sat. 10 to 4, and three Sundays from 10 to 4. (Memorial Day weekend, Labor Day weekend, and the last weekend in September.) If you have a friend who would like to share some of the time with you, that is also a possibility. If interested, contact a member of our board or apply in person at Harbor Beach City Hall.
