Hampton University Museum is honored to partner with the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) to present a special 24-hour online screening of “August 28: A Day in the Life of a People”, by award-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay.

The powerful short film weaves together six pivotal moments in Black history that all occurred on the same date, August 28, illuminating the resilience, struggle, achievement, and transformation that have shaped the African American experience.

THERE ARE 2 WAYS TO WATCH:
1) IN-PERSON- Join us at the Museum for screenings at 1:15 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm

2) HU Museum Website - Beginning at 8:00 AM, August 28, 2026, the film will be available on Hampton University Museum’s website. The film will only be accessible on August 28.

In a new movie (theater release 3-5-27) directed and stared in by Michael B. Jordan, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘫𝘰 𝘓𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯 painting makes an appearance. The movie is 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘴 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘈𝘧𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘳 and shows a secret room with famous stolen artwork. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘫𝘰 𝘓𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯 shares the space with, among others, Goya's 𝘚𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘏𝘪𝘴 𝘚𝘰𝘯 and Caravaggio's 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘦 𝘛𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳.

The Young Master Artist and STEAM Lab summer programs at Hampton University Museum have successfully concluded.

The creative confidence of all participating art students was strengthened over a week of instruction, involving hands-on learning and creative expression.

This bust of General Samuel Chapman Armstrong, University Founder, was created by Dr. Biggers as a student in 1943 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the school’s founding.
