Finger Lakes Wine Museum Founded in 1967, The Finger Lakes Wine Museum is the oldest wine museum in America and is dedicated to Greyton H. Taylor. The home of the WST Art Gallery.

We house a wide collection of rare bottles, wine glasses, cooper tools and winemaking equipment.

Did you know when the Boeing 747 was unveiled in 1968 it was christened with 26! bottles of Great Western Champagne? Each country that ordered a 747 sent a stewardess to christen the plane in Everett, Washington, with close to 50,000 people in attendance.

For your consideration a bottle of Pol Roger from 1907 that proudly says “AMERICA” on it. No this was not produced in America, rather the winery was trying to help it sell in their European markets at the time because the USA iconography was very fashionable. They even pulled the drawing off of a treasury note.

A look at Widmer’s 1930’s portfolio reveals a remarkably progressive and eclectic approach to winemaking. Iona, Salem, Dutchess, Vergennes, Catawba, Diamond, (Missouri) Riesling, Elvira, Delaware, Diana are all American Heirloom grape varieties. Unfortunately many of these grapes have fallen into near obscurity and are more common to find in a garden or used by a home winemaker.
