visitors. Examples are the reconstruction of the Civil War earthworks – still in progress: Battery Russell, the gun battery in the line of fire from a Japanese submarine during World War II, and the near-by Pacific Rim Peace Memorial: Battery Mishler, a one of a kind battery and the underground command post for the Columbia River forts.

1041st Transportation Company, 420th Chemical Battalion, had the chance to check out a different kind of transportation during annual training in Oregon last month.

The Peter Iredale was built in 1890 and owned by British shipping firm Iredale & Porter. In 1906, the Iredale left Mexico, bound for Portland, where it was to pick up a cargo of wheat. The Iredale ran aground at Clatsop Beach in Fort Stevens State Park, where she still rests over 100 years later.

Happy Friday! Here’s an update for you:

I know we’ve been closed for some time now, but good news… I’ll be opening the gift shop back up March 11th or 12th! I’ll keep you posted on that.
I have been working hard to enhance our gift shop and I brought in some new items as well!
Lots more things for the kiddos to enjoy, sweat pants and shorts with the cross cannon on them, stuffed animals, and much more.

As of right now, the museum portion of the visitors center is closed to the public for updates, but will be open in time.

Thank you all for being so patient with us as we worked on these updates to better your experience! And big thank you to the staff and hosts at Fort Stevens State Park for helping me along this journey!
See you soon!

We are very excited to have an amazing lineup, 2 Headliners and a Special Guest this year!

We are excited to announce that not only will we have a great headliner, Sweet Emotion gracing our Saturday stage at this year's Summer's End Music Festival but we also have Jacquie Roar returning for a night of fun and great music! You will be excited to find Back Into Black headlining the stage on Sunday night!

Jacquie was unable to come to last year's festival because she was filming her competitive run on NBC's 'The Voice' where she made it all the way to the finale!!

Who's excited for a chance to meet and greet with one or all of these three talented preformers?
