Open Thursday through Monday. 12 noon to 5 PM. Monthly exhibitions at CAL feature original work by individual artists, and regional art organizations. Running through the end of November a wonderful display of photography "Through Our Eyes" by the Pixel Printers of Santa Cruz. Pixel Printers of C is a small group of dedicated photographers who meet monthly to share priced images. Tapping into the communal knowledge of the group has been key to their growth as artists. Jeffine Levine displaying his latest creation at Coastal Art League: "Proving that inspiration is everywhere--this piece was sparked by a print in the men's room of my favourite Chinese restaurant showing bamboo plants and a cairn through an open window. I changed the calm to floating lilies for increased veal impact and the bamboo to a flowering plant for more color. I was especially pleased with the wood-grained glass I found for the window and the overall serenity reflected in the piece." This lovely piece is now on display and for sale at Coastal Art League!

From Artist Jeff Levine: " Proving that inspiration is everywhere- this piece was sparked by a print in the men's room of my favoriteChinese restaurant showing bamboo plants and a cairn through an open window. Currently at Coastal Art League, Claudia Gray is a multi media artist that recently became a published author. In her words "Creativity is an illusive and complicated experience which many artists and philosophers have attempted to define. This book aims to not only decipher and explain creativity, but also to inspire others to create. Throughout my time as a professional artist, my personal creative theories have been formed and nurtured by my life’s journeys. Master artists, such as Ansel Adams, Cindy Sherman, Georgia O'Keefe, and Claude Monet, play special parts in my inspirations and creations." Claudia's books can be seen at Coastal Art League along with her other displays of paintings and glass work.

Updates from wood artist Maury Walcott: As promised Sister Donna, pictures of the recent "Fusion Fish", the idea revived after some time. The picture shows 2 of the 3 very similar carvings of which the 3rd one went to the gallery before i remembered to take pictures. These are pine with walnut fins just over 7 inches long.
Also, revived another older design of The Joker now called "Wild Card". The original "Joker" was given to my cardplaying friend Ron J. a long time ago. This series of five 2D "carvings" are painted on thin pieces of walnut wood. Finally! Yesterday we installed the Ken Paul sculptures Lois donated to the Half Moon Bay library garden (City property). What a relief to complete this project. It is good to get these out from under a tarp on my driveway and out into the world for public viewing.
