Valley Art Association Local artists' association and gallery featuring original artwork by regional (Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania) artists. Videos are also available.

On display are paintings (including oil, watercolor, pastel and other mediums, fine art photography, sculpture and crafts. Membership
The Valley Art Association is an enthusiastic and resourceful group of artists and art patrons who welcome your membership. It is open to anyone interested in supporting or participating in the arts. Membership includes the following opportunities:
Participating in

the Mansion House Art Gallery
Hanging art in all-member shows
Participating in trips, workshops & classes
Using the reference library
Attending art demonstrations
Painting with weekly painting groups
Participating in social activities for members and the public
Receiving and publishing notices about the club and art activites in the region in the monthly newsletters

All members are welcome to submit articles for posting about awards received, classes being taught, etc., contact us. onthly Meetings
General membership meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month except for November, when the meeting is held the week prior to Thanksgiving. A picnic is traditionally held during the June meeting and meetings are not held in July or August. Each meeting typically begins with a short session to conduct the club's business, followed by a demonstration or other instructive or social activity. Membership meetings are open to the public. Please note: Scheduled events at the Mansion House will be cancelled if Washington County Schools are closed due to inclement weather. Library
A reference library is available at the Mansion House for all members. Most of the books are "how-to" books for the visual arts although there are some art history and museum books. A list of materials is available for members to use in selecting items. Materials can be signed out for one month at the monthly general meeting. Librarians are available before the meeting and during the break. Trips, Workshops & Classes
Trips, workshops, and classes are offered regularly for members. All information is provided at the general membership meeting announcements or via the monthly newsletters. Members are encouraged to share their suggestions for activities with board members or if you would like to teach at the Mansion House please contact us.

Workshop Announcement: Incorporating Gold Leaf Into your Charcoal Portraits

Greencastle portrait artist and VAA member, Nicole Troup will be leading a workshop "Incorporating Gold Leaf into Your Charcoal Portraits" August 1, 2026 at the Maryland Hall, Annapolis, MD. The workshop will cover facial proportions, understanding form, edges and how to incorporate gold leaf methods on paper to create a beautiful illumination. About Nicole: Nicole Troup is a prominent American portrait artist specializing in oils, charcoal, and gilding. She earned her BFA in 2008, and studied under Everett Raymond Kinstler. Her works are in collections across the U.S., Canada, and Great Britain. She painted former Pennsylvania Governor Thomas Corbett and conducts workshops in her Pennsylvania studio, online, and at the Museum of Fine Arts in Maryland. She founded "Portraits for a Cause, " and her art appears in American Art Collector and Fine Art Connoisseur. She is a state ambassador for the Portrait Society of America and a board member of the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters.
