New to the Collection this week.
Sealskin pocketbook owned by Revolutionary War soldier James Brooks of Haddam. Brooks served as a member of the elite Washington’s Life Guard who served as General Washington’s bodyguards. You had to be 20 to 30 years old, five feet eight inches or taller, robust constitution, well limbed and a man of established character. Legend indicates that he was captured by the British seven times and escaped seven times. Donated by descendants Camilla and Mark Cane, Patrick Stone and Charles Stone.

Various year books from Haddam Jr. High School dating from the 1960s and 1970s. Donation also included an early rendering of the Haddam Jr. High School and a 1976 Bicentennial Flag. Donated by Dan Olver.
