The Motts Military museum, LLC, was as formed out of the need to preserve, protect and display items from an area of history which is often overlooked and sometimes misunderstood. Military history was and still is the backbone of America and world historical accounts. Military conflicts have shaped the makeup of America and the world. It has established governments, freed people, and overthrown di

ctators. Although many museums contain military items, the Motts Military Museum is unique because it encompasses all periods of military history with all countries in which the United States has been involved. Unique to central Ohio, the Motts Military Museum has a special interest in the young people of our country. In order for them to have an understanding of the events that have shaped our country, it is essential that they have a complete presentation of our military history. Then perhaps, they will take away a new appreciation for our nation’s heritage. The purpose of Motts Military Museum is to bring military history into its proper perspective by the collection and preservation of personal stories and memorabilia from the men and women who served in our Military. This demonstrates the impact those events had on our lives.

On Memorial Day the Museum was very busy. We were in the Worthington Parade and the Groveport Parade. Lori was in Groveport’s Red, White and Run 5k race – where all processes benefited Motts Military Museum. She was running to remember SFC Rafael Diaz. She was wearing Warren's original uniform. Also running were our members, Isaac England and Mike Motts. Ed Reeves and Lori set up a tent and an exhibit with Ed and Latasha Glover there to answer questions. The ceremony after the parade in the Groveport cemetery was very moving. They also recognized the hometown banners; the Museum had put in Fred Mick (Groveport Graduate) the last Green Beret killed in Vietnam. Thanks to all our volunteers that made this happen.

From the Civil War battlefield to one of the greatest tragedies in American history…

In this episode of Tombstone Tales, we visit Waukegan to share the story of Lt. Col. William M. Reid—a Union officer who served his country, escorted Abraham Lincoln on his final journey, and decades later perished in the tragic Iroquois Theatre Fire.

His story is one of service, survival, and unexpected loss. Help support this content. Please consider sending a gift here:

The Musem had a great tour today. We had eighty-one 5th graders from Westerville Hanby Elementary School visit. Warren had to enlist two other volunteers to help, Mel Pinrod and Dave Gerhardt. We commend their teachers; these young people were very attentive and very interested in history.
Thank you for coming.
