We recently received this donation of the Michael Greiner (1830-1899) residence, store and post office. The house was built on the northwest side of Gratiot Avenue near Conner Creek. During the 19th century, this area was part of Grosse Pointe Township. The surrounding settlement grew around his business and was locally known as Greinerville (or Conner's Creek). Today, this vicinity near Gratiot and Greiner Avenue sits near Assumption Grotto Church in northeast Detroit.
