And, ta-da! It's the last Activity Bag from Grinnell College Museum of Art for summer 2026. This one is all about shapes and lines in art, and comes with a variety of papers, scissors, glue, markers, a little book, as well as reproductions from our collection, an activity guide, coloring pages, and a recipe. You can pick yours up Friday, July 31 at GCMoA and Drake Community Library after 1 pm.

It's the last week of Storytime Art in the Park for 2026! I'll be packing along the potters wheel, perler beads, as well as the Sparkle Truck's whole kit and caboodle of art activities. You'll find us Tuesday the 28th at Bucksbaum Center for the Arts (1108 Park Street)from 10:30 - noon, and Thursday at Central Park from 3:30 - 5. Stop by to enjoy free arts and literacy activities. No registration necessary. On Tuesday there will be free produce, plant starts, eggs and books to take home.
These free, drop in programs are made possible by Grinnell College Museum of Art and Drake Community Library.

This week's free Activity Bag from Grinnell College Museum of Art is all about textiles. Learn how to do a simple weaving, make a God's Eye and embroider. You can pick yours up Friday, July 24 at GCMoA and Drake Community Library after 1 pm. This bag has reproductions from GCMoA's collection, activity guides to inspire you, recipes, yarn, an embroidery hoop, burlap, a tapestry needle, wooden sticks, a little book, a pencil, marker, and coloring pages.

There's a lot to choose from at this week's Storytime Art in the Park-- make a book, a puppet, a painting, or create a cyanotype, which is a special type of photograph created with sunshine and water. Location change! The Thursday session has been move to Bucksbaum Center for the Arts, 1108 Park Street, due to extreme heat. This week's special project at Storytime Art in the Park is paper marbling and there will be three sessions!!! Tuesday the 14th we'll be at Summer Street Park from 10:30 - noon, Thursday at Bucksbaum Center for the Arts from 3:30 - 5, and Friday we'll be at the Poweshiek County Fair from 9:30 - 11. Stop by to enjoy a Sparkle Truck load of free arts and literacy activities. No registration necessary. On Tuesday there will be free produce, plant starts, eggs and books to take home.

This week's free Activity Bag from Grinnell College Museum of Art is all about comics and zines and will be available Friday, July 10 at GCMoA and Drake Community Library. This bag has reproductions from GCMoA's collection and an activity guide that will inspire you to make an accordion book and two other kinds of zines. Along with the glue, paper, scissors, markers, and a straight edge, you'll also find fun facts about broccoli and a recipe.

Tilly will be packing along her scroll to Storytime Art in the Park this week to cut out wooden mermaids, dragons, horses, cats, hogs, and creatures of all kinds. Stop by to enjoy a Sparkle Truck load of free arts and literacy activities. No registration necessary.

This one is about mythological creatures and is chock full of images of art and supplies that will get you looking at creatures, thinking, writing, and making something wild! Location change!! Due to the heat warning, Tuesdsay's ( 6/30) Storytime Art in the Park will move from Merrill Park to the air conditioned Rotunda at Bucksbaum Center for the Arts, 1108 Park Street. We'll be working on a community clay project as well as the usual Sparkle Truck load of free art and literacy projects, books, and food provided by Grinnell Farm to Table. We still plan on being at Central Park on Thursday the 2nd from 3:30 - 5 with clay and the usual arts and literacy activities.
