Museum of Flight and Aerial Firefighting The Museum is open around the middle of May until October 1. We try to be open 9-5, Mon-Sat, but it depends on the weather!

The Museum is behind the rest area on Hwy 20. The Museum of Flight & Aerial Firefighting was founded in 1987, incorporated in 1992, and has acquired through lease from the South Big Horn County Airport, the land north of the WYDOT rest area for the long-term site of our museum. In a partnership with the Greybull Area Chamber of Commerce, the museum operates from the facility located behind the rest area, while applying for grants and seeking donations to enable a permanent building to be erected for indoor displays and for the purchase of, or transport costs for, other World War II and firefighting aircraft. Visitors originate from all over the world and all parts of the US to see the famous aircraft in Greybull. The Museum of Flight & Aerial Firefighting invites you to come and experience an unforgettable day of aviation history.

Hawkins & Powers Aviations Fairchild C-82. We had this one which was fly able. We had 2 more C-82’s that we picked up in Alaska. They were dismantled and put on railroad cars and brought to Greybull.

This picture was taken in June 2018. It shows some of the aircraft Hawkins & Powers had in our inventory for aerial firefighting. Most of these aircraft were used for spares to keep the aircraft we had operating as air tankers.
