🌿 Expand & Experiment with Encaustics
Saturday and Sunday, November 7 & 8 | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This two-day, jam-packed workshop is perfect for taking your encaustic skills to the next level. We will be experimenting with lots of techniques: painting, scraping, incising, accretion, sgraffito, image transfer, dipping, pouring, shellac burns, and imbedding paper/small bits. All materials provided, just bring your creativity. Let us see what we can create with encaustic wax! Participants must have encaustic experience.

💠 We're thrilled to announce two concurrent exhibits coming up:

Fragments, an exhibition of work by Julia Rymer with guest artist Deborah Howard
Elemental, artwork from the Seed Sisters Art Collective

Colorado artist Julia Rymer presents Fragments, an exhibition of abstract mixed-media paintings and works on paper that use landscape as a metaphor for historical and cultural discovery, loss, and memory. Fragments also features guest artist Deborah Howard, Professor Emerita at the University of Denver, whose work engages questions of migration, memory and cultural identity.

The Seed Sisters Art Collective comprises four international artists exploring nature, process, and the handmade: Makiko Berry (Japan), Julia Rymer Brucker (United States) Ingrid Bell (Scotland), &
Ann Stephens (France). The Curtis Center is pleased to welcome them for the opening reception.

🔶 We're so pleased to present the winner of our "Here + Now" People's Choice award -- Katharine McGuinness's "Paint the Sky."

In their submission, one visitor commented that they "enjoyed the tone, shapes, and movement of the print, which made me smile. What a lovely space and beautifully curated exhibit."

We're highlighting one more People's Choice submission before we announce the winner!

This nomination is for Pamela Webb's jewelry showcase, about which a visitor commented: "The designs were stand alone masterpieces. The necklace pieces were so unique and magnificent - no other piece of jewelry would need to be worn. They are exceptional in every way."

🏠 We're presenting another People's Choice submission from our current "Here + Now" exhibit.

"Wall House" by Lynda Ladwig was nominated by a visitor who, when asked why it stood out to them, said "I am seriously into whimsy." As we should all be.

🖌️ Beginner's Acrylic Painting
