Greenwich Ohio Area Historical Society The purpose of this society shall be the discovery, preservation and dissemination of knowledge concerning the Greenwich Area of Huron County Ohio

The purpose of this society shall be the discovery, preservation and dissemination of knowledge concerning the Greenwich Area of Huron County in the State of Ohio. Said Corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501

(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code. More particularly its objectives shall be:

To discover and collect any materials which may help to establish or illustrate the history of the Greenwich area, the exploration, settlement, development, and activities in peace and war, and the progress in population, wealth, education, arts, science, agriculture, manufactures, trade, and transportation; printed materials such as histories, genealogies, biographies, descriptions, gazetteers, directories, newspapers, pamphlets, catalogues, circulars, handbills, programs, and posters; manuscript materials such as letters, diaries, journals, memoranda, reminiscences, rosters, service records, account books, charts, surveys, and field books; and museum material such as pictures, photographs, paintings, portraits, scenes, Indian relics and material objects illustrative of life, conditions, events, and activities in the past or present. To provide for the preservation and display of such material and for its accessibility, as far as may be feasible, to all who wish to examine or study it; to co-operate with officials in ensuring the preservation and accessibility of the records of this area; and to bring about the preservation of historic buildings, monuments and markers. To disseminate historical information of the area by publishing historical material in the area newspapers, the website http://www.greenwichahs.org, or through other public media, as well as maintaining the museum facility provided by the Village of Greenwich; to arouse interest in our local history by holding meetings with addresses, lectures, papers, and discussions; and by marking historic buildings, sites and trails.
