In today’s climate, I think we all take ourselves too seriously. I think we trip over and side-step the small things that make one’s life complete. Beauty. Color. Respect. Empathy. Compassion. If we paid more attention to and took more cues from Mother Nature, perhaps the climate in which we are living could become a little less volatile.
I believe that the only perfection lies within the organic. Sometimes there is even perfection in natures’s imperfections. We are too quick to disregard those things that we see every day. We are so eager to obtain the new, that we forget the history of the old.
I try to take my cues from Nature--Color. Beauty and the Symbiotic Relationships that exist. My collages combine thrown away Objects with Color and Wax to hold the pieces and parts together. My paintings, I hope, portray the richness and fullness of the same. I am constantly experimenting with materials that act and react with one another on a canvas with the hope I can get closer to portraying a better reality, with an abstract, impressionistic approach.
