Work is continuing to get the Lichtenwalter Schoolhouse ready for visitors. Tyler Fisk, an Eagle Scout candidate from Troop 330 in Green is working to seal the basement walls so that GHS can use the basement to house their archives. We are continuing to work on the upstairs classroom too. Newly donated display cabinets have been delivered. Work will continue on the school desks shortly, more details to come.

Did you know that GHS provides 3 volunteers per day to run this school day long program for each of the third grade classes every Spring? It takes over 250 hours of volunteer time to give our GLS students a school day in 1885 - and it's worth every minute! Our volunteers and students have an amazing experience. A huge thank you to our partners at the Jackson Township Historical Society for allowing us to use their schoolhouse to continue this program for the last three years. Hoping we are able to run this program in our own schoolhouse in Green next Spring!

Mrs. Sarver's 3rd graders were treated to school life from the late 1800's, which included reciting some tongue twisters for their ELOCUTION lesson! Thank you to "schoolmarm" Staci Schweikert and teacher helpers Glenn and Becky Witsamen from the Green Historical Society. Huge thanks to the Jackson Historical Society for lending us the use of their school house.

I was curious if anyone had any information about the farm that was where Hyde Park allotment currently sits. Anytime we have to dig or even just break the surface of the soil, we find all sorts of broken pieces of dishes. It’s pretty cool!
Would someone remember the name of the restaurant / bar at the corner of Wise Rd. and Massillion Rd . ? Now demolished but once was the first Don Ponchos . What was the name of that bar and restaurant before Don Ponchos ? Early 1970's if I remember correctly would be the time period .

My husband's ancestors lived in Monroe, Wisconsin. On the 1880 census, they're listed in Enumeration District 141, at 116 Washington St. When I look at a map of present-day Monroe, I see primarily numbered streets/avenues. Does anyone know if there was ever a Washington St in Monroe and, if not, where this may have been (in relation to E.D. 141)? Thanks...
