🎨 Meet New Artist Joann Cullip at AuSable Artisan Village!

From Palette to Classroom and Back — Joann’s lifelong journey in art has been shaped by decades of teaching, world travel, and a deep appreciation for the beauty found in nature and culture. A nationally board-certified art educator and two-time Kentucky High School Art Teacher of the Year, Joann spent 34 years inspiring students in classrooms from Michigan to Kentucky, including work with gifted arts students at SCAPA and future educators at Asbury University.

Now retired from the classroom, Joann has fully embraced her own artistic path through watercolor and acrylic painting, drawing inspiration from travels across Europe, Central America, and Morocco. Her vibrant, nature-based works reflect a lifetime of creativity, curiosity, and careful observation of the world around us.

We’re excited to welcome Joann to the AuSable Artisan Village family! You can now find her artwork on display at the Original Art Gallery located at 219 Michigan Ave. Stop in, explore her beautiful collection, and support local and regional artists!

Hello, Grayling! 👋

My name is Jillian Tremonti, and I’m excited to officially introduce myself as the new Executive Director of the Grayling Regional Chamber of Commerce!

This month actually marks 15 years of calling Grayling home, and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than by stepping into a role focused on supporting the community I love so much. My connection to the Chamber started back in 2011 as an Ambassador, and more recently as a member of the Board of Directors, and a dedicated volunteer for the AuSable River Festival and with the Miss AuSable River Festival Program, so this opportunity feels especially meaningful.

Over the coming months, you’ll start to see some exciting changes, including updates to our newsletter, website, and the way we communicate with our members and community. My goal is to make sure the Chamber is delivering real value: useful resources, stronger connections, meaningful support, and a clear sense that your membership matters.

I’m incredibly excited for what’s ahead and grateful for the warm welcome already. Here’s to building something impactful together! 💙

Big things are happening behind the curtain… literally.

Thanks to an incredibly generous anonymous donor, we were able to install brand new stage curtains at the AuSable Artisan Village Performing Arts Center — a much-needed upgrade that instantly elevates the experience for performers and audiences alike.

And of course, we figured the FIRST official curtain reveal deserved a proper rock show entrance.🤘🏻🔥 The Gits & Shiggles crew absolutely understood the assignment and helped us break in the new curtains in style during last night’s show.

This is what community support looks like. Every improvement to this space helps us continue bringing live music, theatre, comedy, art, and unforgettable experiences to downtown Grayling.

We’ve had a wonderful opportunity to connect with the individuals helping shape the new Sawmill Lofts project in downtown Grayling.

The AuSable Artisan Village Gallery Committee, alongside Executive Director Del, helped curate a selection of artwork to be installed throughout the lobby space and two office areas within the building. We are incredibly grateful for the continued local support and the opportunity to showcase these remarkable works from our galleries in a space that celebrates community and growth.

Featured artists include Terry Dickinson, Paul Weideman, Sarah Haveman, Lynn Pettyjohn, Lisa Oliver, Jim Veenstra, Michael McGraw, Victoria Hankins, Laura Stockwell, Kathy Space, Ken Kueffner, and Ken Wright.

It’s exciting to see this amazing building becoming part of our downtown neighborhood. Grayling is growing, and we’re proud to be part of the momentum.
