Our dear friend and supporter has passed away Carol Dage was a huge influence for the Historical Society and Truman Farm Home in Grandview. Many years ago Carol and I (Annette Turnbaugh) met. We had so much in common starting with being bicentennial high school graduates. The members of the historical Society every year would help volunteer at the Truman farm home to give tours during our Harry’s Hay days event the first Saturday in May for his birthday. We all grew very close to Carol and her team from National Park Service (NPS) and always look forward to each year helping out at the farm home. I didn’t get to see my friend this year as there was work being done on the farm home and the tours inside the house were stopped.
I had given Carol a call a couple of weeks before she passed and left a message for her as we wanted her to come and speak with the historical society in October. The Saturday before she passed on Monday, I received a text message from her sister Sharon telling me that Carol was in hospice care. My heart broke. She will be leaving a lasting place in my heart for the rest of my days as she was one of a kind and everything her obituary says that she was, kind, faithful, fun, and a beautiful human being. Rest in peace, my friend.
